Abstract: A method for adaptively allocating resources of an uplink control channel according to a system situation is disclosed. If a base station (BS) recognizes the system situation, establishes control information for resource allocation, and transmits the control information to a mobile station (MS), the mobile station (MS) allocates resources for transmitting uplink control information using a specific block or a specific resource distribution method according to the corresponding control information. The system situation may be changed according to the number of users contained in the BS's coverage or the usage of a multi-antenna. The variation of the system situation is actively reflected so that the uplink channel resources can be effectively used.

Abstract: A portable device, such as a mobile terminal or user equipment, for encoding uplink acknowledgments to downlink transmissions. The portable device includes a receiver configured to receive a plurality of data blocks, such that each of the data blocks include an associated cyclic redundancy check (CRC), and a processor configured to determine received status for each of the data blocks by checking the CRC of each of the data blocks. The portable device further includes a transmitter for transmitting a response sequence which indicates the received status of all of the data blocks.

Abstract: A method for providing precoding weights for data symbols of data control subframes includes generating a downlink frame having control subframes which individually correspond to one of a plurality of downlink data subframes, and inserting weight information into each of the control subframes, such that the weight information is to be applied to data symbols present in the corresponding one of the data subframes. The method further includes transmitting the control subframes and the inserted weight information to a receiving device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to 2-hydroxy-alkylamino-benzoic acid derivatives and to a combination of cell necrosis inhibitor and lithium, process for the preparation of the derivatives or the combination, pharmaceutical formulation containing the derivatives or the combination, and use of the derivatives or the combination by either concomitant or sequential administration for improvement of treatment of neuronal death or neurological dysfunction. The derivatives and the combination of the present invention are useful for treating neurological diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease), spinal muscular atrophy, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury; and for treating ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration.

Abstract: A method of allocating radio resources in a multi-carrier system is disclosed, by which a signaling message can be efficiently transmitted according to necessity of a user equipment. In a user equipment of a mobile communication system transceiving data using a plurality of subcarriers, the present invention includes the steps of if the signaling message to be transmitted is generated in the user equipment, generating a preamble sequence according to a user equipment identifier to identify the user equipment, transmitting a preamble signal including the preamble sequence and the signaling message to a base station, and receiving an acknowledgement signal for the preamble signal generated according to the user equipment identifier.

Abstract: The present invention relates to Walsh Code Allocation (WCA) field in the Packet Data Control Channel. One of the embodiments of the WCA field is use of the WCA field as Last Walsh Code Index (LWCI) field in the message format of the PDCCH. The LWCI field indicates the corresponding last code index or the corresponding number of Walsh codes in a Walsh Code Index (WCI) Table/List/Set. In alternative embodiments, the WCA indicates a general set of Walsh codes or a specific set of Walsh codes in the WCI table. The WCA fields may or may not be used with one of power ranking and sequential decoding, but is preferable used. The WCA field has various advantages including but not limited to efficient use of system resources.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of chiral 4-hydroxy-2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine acetamide includes adding sodium cyanide together with citric acid to a solution of chiral epichlorohydrin to obtain chiral 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropionitrile by ring opening reaction of the chiral epichlorohydrin, reacting the obtained product with an alcohol containing hydrochloride gas to obtain chiral 4-chloro-3-hydroxybutyric acid ester, and reacting the obtained product in a presence of a base with glycinamide or with glycine ester accompanied by ammonolysis with ammonia to produce the targeted chiral 4-hydroxy-2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine acetamide.

Abstract: The data transmission rate on the reverse link in a mobile communications system is controlled by determining an interference level at a base station due to signals from all mobile stations served by the base station, and determining a transmission energy level required for each mobile station. The interference level is compared with the transmission energy level to obtain a comparison result for each mobile station, and each mobile adjusts its data transmission rate based upon the comparison result, which is sent via a common channel on a forward link to each mobile station in a dedicated manner. Thereafter, packet data is transmitted on the reverse link in accordance with the adjusting so that data throughput can be maximized.

Oxidation air is injected into the lower portion of an absorption slurry riser so as to decrease the density of a gas-liquid (slurry) mixture rising through the absorption slurry riser, and a difference of densities of absorption slurry between the inside and the outside of an overflow weir serve as a driving force for circulating the absorption slurry positioned on and under the gas dispersing tray so as to maximize the amount of the circulating absorption slurry. Thereby, the apparatus has a high SO2 removal efficiency even at a low operating pH and a low absorber pressure drop.

Abstract: Provided is a process for purifying human interferon beta from a recombinant human interferon beta-containing culture comprising performing affinity chromatography and cation exchange chromatography, wherein the affinity chromatography includes: adsorbing the interferon beta-containing culture to an equilibrated affinity chromatography column, followed by washing with an equilibration buffer solution; washing the column with a washing buffer solution A of pH 6.5-7.5 containing 30-60 wt % of propylene glycol and a washing buffer solution B of pH 6.5-7.5 containing 10-30 wt % of propylene glycol and 1-2M NaCl; and eluting a human interferon beta-containing fraction with a buffer solution of pH 6.5-7.5 containing 40-60 wt % of propylene glycol and 1-2M NaCl.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a noninvasive medical pulsimeter sensor using magnetic thin films. By forming a pulse-sensing part array with magnetic sensors such as GMR devices, MTJ devices and the likes, over the skin-contacting part which consists of a magnetic material, the present invention increases the integrity of sensors, minimizes the time for searching the pulse and it is applicable widely to portable pulsimeters and the likes.

Abstract: A method of blocking network attacks using information included in a packet, and an apparatus thereof are provided. The method includes: receiving a packet containing information on the packet including at least information on a source from which the packet is sent, and information on a destination to which the packet is sent; and extracting the information on the packet included in the packet, comparing the information with a predetermined access control condition, and blocking or passing the packet. By doing so, a packet being transferred with a routing header capable of bypassing a security device as in an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) network can be appropriately blocked or passed. Accordingly, security problems caused by the routing header can be overcome, and as a result, usage of the routing header can be promoted.
