  • Publication number: 20070133431
Abstract: A media access control method in a wireless local area network is provided. The media access control method includes assigning a QoS (quality of service) slot to each of mobile terminals which request a transmission of a voice frame by exchanging frames for ensuring QoS between the mobile terminals and an AP (access point) which is connected to the mobile terminals through a wireless link, dividing a unit time interval of the wireless link for the transmission of the voice frame into time intervals each of which corresponds to the least common multiple of generation periods of the voice frames of the mobile terminals, dividing the divided time interval corresponding to the least common multiple (QoS frame transmission intervals), and assigning each QoS slot to each of the QTX-INTs and transmitting the voice frame from each of the mobile terminals through the QoS slot.

  • Publication number: 20070133430
Abstract: Provided is a method for reducing a transmission delay on the basis of non-contention without performing backoff and polling when transmitting an audio frame of a radio frequency (RF) link section in a voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) system having a wireless local area network (WLAN) function. The method includes the steps of: (a) obtaining audio information through at least one WLAN terminal; (b) performing one of setting, change and removal of a reservation number (RN) through an RN setting process between the WLAN terminal and an access point (AP); (c) transmitting an audio QoS frame including reservation information obtained by step (b) at every interval when an audio frame is generated in a radio frequency (RF) link section; and (d) setting up a reservation time on the basis of the reservation information included in the received audio QoS frame.

  • Publication number: 20060104248
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of controlling Wireless LAN (WLAN) medium access using Pseudo-Time Division Multiplexing (PTDM) to improve the Quality of Service (QoS) of the WLAN. The method includes the first step of a Mobile Terminal (MT) acquiring QoS information, which relates to a voice frame to be transmitted, from an upper layer; the second step of the MT exchanging a frame, including the QoS information, with the AP and being allocated QoS slot (QSLOT) information by the AP; the third step of dividing an RF link section between the MT and the AP by the creation period of the voice frame; and the fourth step of transmitting the voice frame in the creation period of the voice frame using the allocated QSLOT information.

  • Publication number: 20050141548
Abstract: The present invention relates to a media access control (MAC) apparatus and method for guaranteeing quality-of-service in a wireless local area network (LAN). The MAC method comprises: extracting a user priority from a frame received from an upper layer and separately storing a voice frame and a general frame according to an access category (AC); independently performing backoff operations for the voice frame and the general frame; determining whether the backoff operations for the voice frame and the general frame have simultaneously ended; if the backoff operations have simultaneously ended, transmitting the voice frame having a higher priority first and performing the backoff operation for the general frame; and if the backoff operations have not simultaneously ended, transmitting a frame whose backoff operation ends.
