  • Patent number: 7648245
Abstract: A cooling system of a thin projector, and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The system comprises a heat source 1 in a housing, first and second suction ports formed at side and lower surfaces of the housing, respectively, a discharge port formed at an upper surface of the housing, first and second air stream forming units 2 and 3 to form first and second air stream along which air induced from the first and second suction ports is guided to the discharge port while cooling the heat source, respectively, a sensor unit to detect a temperature of suction air induced from the first and second suction ports and a temperature of discharge air discharged from the discharge port, and a controller 6 to control the first and second air stream forming units 2 and 3 using the temperatures of the suction and discharge air.

  • Patent number: 7641546
Abstract: A cooling apparatus and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The cooling apparatus is adapted to cool a system in which a heat source generating heat is arranged. The cooling apparatus includes an air stream forming unit which cools the heat source to a certain temperature, a sensing unit which includes a supplied-air temperature sensor for sensing a temperature of air supplied into the system, and a discharged-air temperature sensor for sensing a temperature of air discharged out of the system, an altitude detecting unit which detects an altitude of the system, based on the sensed supplied-air temperature and the sensed discharged-air temperature, and a cooling controller which controls the air stream forming unit, based on the detected altitude.

  • Patent number: 7018051
Abstract: Disclosed is a cooling apparatus of a color wheel for color separation in a single plate type projector and a projection system using the projector, which comprises an airflow generator, thereby cooling the color wheel and a rod lens of the single plate type projector. The cooling apparatus of the color wheel of the projector of the present invention prevents the color wheel and the rod lens from being thermally degraded by using the high-powered lamp. Further, an airflow generator such as the airfoil-shaped or plate-shaped blades is formed on a hub of the color wheel, thereby miniaturizing the system of the projector and reducing its production cost.
