  • Patent number: 7026949
Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving messages in a home appliance networking system, wherein a first home appliance connected to a network appends a unique message identification number to a header of a message and transmits the resulting message to a second home appliance connected to the network. Messages transmitted and received among a plurality of home appliances can be distinguished from one another, resulting in a reduction in message transfer errors. Moreover, as needed, a group code corresponding to a specific group of home appliances may be appended to a transmitter message for control of the specific group so that the home appliances can be conveniently and efficiently controlled at one time.

  • Publication number: 20030009515
Abstract: A system and method for networking home appliances through a multinetwork structure, wherein the home appliances are connected directly or indirectly to a network constructed through a LAN line or power line communication network in a home such that they are operated according to algorithms of different coding/decoding levels. The home appliances construct different networks so that they are efficiently interoperable in the entire network. Therefore, even though an external intruder intrudes into any one of the different networks, information of home appliances connected to the other networks can be prevented from leaking out, thereby avoiding security risks.

  • Publication number: 20020191637
Abstract: A method is provided of upgrading the protocol of a networkable home appliance which is manufactured for use in a home network so as to have the ability to communicate through a gateway connected to an external communication network, and that has a flash memory for storing the protocol. The protocol stored in the flash memory is automatically upgraded with a new version thereof simply and conveniently without any waste of time or manpower. The protocol of the home appliance may be updated with the new version of the protocol in a service provision server which provides home appliance information. The version upgrade of an existing home appliance can be performed without a service visit or any manipulation by the user, thereby enabling data compatibility between the existing home appliance and a home appliance newly introduced to the market.

  • Publication number: 20020165950
Abstract: A home appliance networking system and a method for controlling the same. At least one home appliance is connected to a network and controlled in response to control information received over the network and transmits its state information and self-information over the network. An agent is connected to the home appliance to recognize the self-information transmitted from the home appliance and manage transmission and reception of all data over the network by the appliance on the basis of the recognized information. A service provider provides additional information regarding the home appliance, not included in the self-information of the appliance, to the agent. If a new home appliance is connected to the network to which other home appliances remain connected, the agent recognizes all information of the new home appliance and manages transmission and reception of all data over the network by the appliance on the basis of the recognized information.

  • Patent number: 6289680
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an operation of a linear compressor by which an instablel phenomenon caused due to a characteristics deviation of parts of a compressor is corrected to stabilize the operation of the system, thereby accomplishing an optimal operation. Also, when the tuning instability occurs due to the characteristic deviation and the assembly deviation of the mechanic unit of the compressor, and the parts deviation in the control circuit such as the sensorless stroke estimator, the compressor deviation is corrected by using a relative coordinate value. And, while the linear compressor is being operated with the stroke command value according to the cooling mode, in case that the current stroke is in an unstable state, the stroke command value is lowered down as much as a predetermined value, with which the linear compressor is operated for a predetermined time. Then, when a predetermined time lapses, it is operated with the original stroke command value, thereby evading the instablel state.

  • Patent number: 5307273
Abstract: Apparatus and method for determining the condition of the floor to be cleaned by a cleaning robot. The apparatus comprises an ultrasonic wave signal transmitting circuit for transmitting an ultrasonic wave signal to an ultrasonic wave signal transmitter under the control of a microcomputer, a receiving amplifying unit for amplifying the ultrasonic wave signal transmitted from the ultrasonic wave signal transmitter and received in a ultrasonic wave signal receiver, a receiving demodulating unit for smoothing the output signal from the receiving amplifying unit to demodulate it and then apply it to the microcomputer. According to the control of the microcomputer, the ultrasonic wave signal is transmitted for a predetermined period. The period from the time when the ultrasonic wave signal is transmitted to the time when the ultrasonic wave signal is received in the ultrasonic wave signal receiver is measured.

  • Patent number: 4970359
Abstract: An automatic cooking control system for a microwave over which utilizes a microcomputer for controlling the whole operation of a microwave oven. An electric power source and magnetron are used for generating microwave energy. Fans are disposed at an air inlet and an air outlet of a heating chamber. The air temperature of inflow and outflow are detected and converted by analog/digital converters into the digital signals. The system performs an initial operation process, first stage heating process, and second stage heating process to complete a full automatic cooking process. The system performs calculations to determine the parameters to be used in second stage heating process according to a temperature variation in ambient air around a microwave oven. This change could be due to the change in season or even a change during the operation of the microwave oven. This results in optimum cooking without regard to the temperature variation in ambient air around a microwave oven.

  • Patent number: 4899026
Abstract: An automatic cooking control system for a microwave oven which utilizes an initial operation process that shifts a temperature of inflow air stored in memories to other memories and repeatedly stores a present inflow air temperature in another memory until the present detected inflow air temperature is equal to the temperature stored in the memory. This initial process also determines a temperature variation in the inflow air and a temperature difference between the air flowing in and out. A temperature compensating portion is obtained from the temperature variation and difference, which is used to establish a temperature increment by dividing the temperature compensating portion into a predetermined temperature increment. The microwave oven then utilizes a first stage heating process until the temprature of the air flowing from a heating chamber is raised as much as the compensated temperature increment.
