    Abstract: A sounding sequence allocation method in a base station of a wireless communication system and a control system thereof are provided. The method includes, determining a cyclic shift index set different from a cyclic shift index set used by at least one second indoor base station among the plurality of indoor base stations, determining a shift value different from a shift value used by at least one indoor base station located at a periphery, and allocating a sounding sequence with cyclic shift indexes included in the determined cyclic shift index set and the determined shift value to a first indoor base station. The method may provide sounding sequence allocation minimizing interference with another outdoor or indoor base station and reduce maintenance and management costs of a system.

    Abstract: Provided are an ARQ apparatus and method for a multihop system in a broadband wireless access communication system. The ARQ method of a relay includes determining if the relay successfully receives specific data from a source and transmitting the specific data to a destination; receiving feedback data from the destination and determining if the destination successfully receives the specific data; generating feedback data including data indicating if the relay and the destination successfully receive the specific data, and outputting the feedback data to the source; and retransmitting the specific data, when the relay successfully receives the specific data but the destination fails to receive the specific data. Accordingly, when the MH-BTS successfully receives the data from the source but the destination fails to receive the data, the source does not retransmit same data to the MH-BTS.

    Abstract: A wireless communication system includes an apparatus capable of detecting whether a cell coverage is downscaled. The wireless communication system receives information used for communication between an evolved NodeB (eNodeB) and a User Equipment (UE) from the eNodeB. The UE performs at least one of pilot signal power checking for checking if a pilot signal power falls within a first reference range, DownLink (DL) Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) checking for checking if an SINR of a DL traffic channel falls within a second reference range, and UpLink (UL) SINR checking for checking if an SINR of an UL traffic channel falls within a third reference range using the received information. The UE also detects whether a cell coverage of a cell to which the eNodeB and the UE belongs is downscaled based on a checking result.

In the method, a preamble signal received from at least one neighbor BS is converted to a frequency response of a preamble sequence and Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT)-processing the preamble signal, an estimation period of the IFFT-processed preamble signal, corresponding to a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size, is divided into a predetermined number of blocks, carrier power values of the blocks are accumulated for a predetermined number of frames, an average of timing offsets of the frames corresponding to a position of a block having a maximum average of accumulated carrier values is determined to be a timing offset of the preamble signal, a carrier power value of the preamble signal is calculated using the timing offset, and a CNR of the preamble signal is estimated using the carrier power value.
