  • Publication number: 20110312801
Abstract: A test module having an outer casing dimensioned for hand-held portability, the outer casing having an inlet for receiving a biological sample containing a target nucleic acid sequence, and, probes in the outer casing for hybridization with the target nucleic acid sequence to form probe-target hybrids, the probes each having a fluorophore such that the probe-target hybrids emit a fluorescence signal in response to exposure to an excitation light, wherein, the fluorophore is a lanthanide metal-ligand complex.

  • Publication number: 20110310149
Abstract: A printhead is provided having fluid ejection nozzles, heaters corresponding to each of the nozzles respectively, with each heater heating printing fluid to cause ejection of a drop of the printing fluid through the corresponding nozzle, and circuitry for generating electrical drive pulses having variable power and length for energizing the heaters. The drive pulses are generated to have less energy than the energy required to heat a volume of the printing fluid equivalent to the drop volume, from the temperature at which the printing fluid enters the printhead to the heterogeneous boiling point of the printing fluid.

  • Publication number: 20110312636
Abstract: A lab-on-a-chip (LOC) device to for analyzing leukocytes in a blood sample, the LOC device having a supporting substrate, an inlet for receiving a sample of blood including leukocytes and erythrocytes, a dialysis section for separating at least some of the erythrocytes from the leukocytes, and, a microsystems technology (MST) layer for separately analyzing the leukocytes, wherein, the inlet, the dialysis section and the MST layer are all supported on the supporting substrate.

  • Patent number: 7716098
Abstract: A method of hindering optical detection of a pattern of data being stored, moved or processed by at least one active circuit in an integrated circuit, the active circuit including at least first and second active devices that change state within a period of time, such that each device exhibits low resistance in one state and high resistance in another state, the method comprising controlling timing of the change of state of the first active device relative to the second active device so as to prevent the devices having simultaneous intermediate resistances between the low and high resistances, thereby to reduce optical emission by the at least one active circuit compared to causing the changes of state of the two devices to happen simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20050033705
Abstract: An integrated circuit comprising: at least one active device; and at least one decoy device that emits light during a change in its state, wherein the operation of the at least one active device and the at least one decoy device is controlled so as to hinder optical detection of a pattern of the light emitted by the at least one active device.
