  • Publication number: 20130006346
Abstract: A stent delivery system and a method for releasably constraining a stent and a method of implanting a stent are provided. The stent delivery system includes an elongate shaft including a proximal portion, a distal portion, a lumen extending at least partially therethrough, and a stent receiving portion on the distal portion of the shaft. The stent delivery system also includes a stent positioned at the stent receiving portion of the elongate shaft, the stent having a constrained configuration and an expanded configuration. A first biasing member is operably connected to the shaft and the stent and a second biasing member is operably connected to the shaft and the stent. The first and second biasing members have a first configuration cooperatively applying a longitudinal tensioning force to the stent and a second configuration cooperatively releasing the longitudinal tensioning force on the stent.

  • Publication number: 20120330396
Abstract: A control system for controlling movement of a medical device delivery system, a stent delivery system and a method for controlling movement of a medical device delivery system are provided. The control system includes a first extendable arm comprising a plurality of first struts interconnected at intermediate points and end points of the first struts. The first arm is movable between a first position and a second position and the first arm is operably connected to one of the first shaft and the second shaft. The control system also includes a first actuator operably connected to the first arm and the first actuator is operable to move the first arm from the first position to the second position. Movement of the first arm moves the first shaft relative to the second shaft to change the position of the second shaft relative to the first shaft.

  • Patent number: 8291936
Abstract: A nonreturn valve includes a first tube connection housing and a second tube connection housing and a diaphragm disk between the first and second tube connection housings. The disk can be lifted from an annular valve seat upon an overpressure in an inlet channel and can be pressed onto the valve seat upon an overpressure in an outlet channel. The diaphragm disk has an annular bead received in mutually opposite annular grooves of the tube connection housings. The diaphragm disk is provided, radially outside the valve seat, with openings leading to an outlet chamber. The second tube connection housing lying opposite the openings is provided with recesses which communicate with the outlet channel and are separated from each other by supporting surfaces for the diaphragm disc. The recesses are connected to the outlet channel by narrow deep grooves.

  • Publication number: 20120253454
Abstract: The present embodiments provide stents for use in medical procedures. In one embodiment, a stent comprises a first flanged region and a body region. A first diameter of the first flanged region is greater than a second diameter of the body region when the stent is in an expanded deployed state. A proximal junction is formed between the first flanged region and the body region. The proximal junction comprises at least one strut extending from the distal end of the first flanged region in a distal direction towards the proximal end of the body region. A strut at the proximal end of the body region is disposed around at least a portion of the strut of the proximal junction. The overlap between the strut at the proximal end of the body region with the strut of the proximal junction causes an increased radiopaque effect at the proximal junction.

  • Patent number: 8251099
Abstract: A check valve in particular for medical applications has a first hose connecting casing and a second hose connecting casing and a membrane disk configured between the two hose connecting casings. The membrane disk is made of a resilient material and cooperates with an annular valve seat. The membrane disk is fitted radially outside the valve's seat with apertures leading to a discharge space. The wall of the second hose connecting casing is opposite the apertures and fitted with a surface curved away from the membrane toward the discharge channel. The discharge channel is fitted with an intake mouth in the wall, and conically tapers within a transition segment toward the intake mouth. Recesses communicating with the discharge space are fitted into the transition segment and are dimensioned in a way to substantially compensate the different flow cross-sections between the intake mouth and the discharge channel.

  • Publication number: 20120022631
Abstract: A control system for controlling movement of a stent delivery system, a stent delivery system and a method for controlling movement of a stent delivery system are provided. The control system includes a housing having a chamber formed therein, a first drive at least partially positioned within the housing and operably connected to the first shaft of the delivery system and a second drive at least partially positioned within the housing and operably connected to the second shaft. The control system also includes a pressure controller operably connected to the housing and configured to change the pressure within the chamber. The first drive and the second drives are movable in response to the pressure change within the chamber and movement of the second drive relative to the first drive causes the second shaft to move relative to the first shaft to expand or constrain a stent operably connected thereto.

  • Publication number: 20110108147
Abstract: Nonreturn valve, in particular for medical uses, with a first tube connection housing and a second tube connection housing and, arranged between the two tube connection housings, a diaphragm disc which is made of flexible material and which can be lifted from an annular valve seat when there is an overpressure in an inlet channel and can be pressed onto the valve seat when there is an overpressure in an outlet channel. At its outer peripheral area, the diaphragm disc is provided with an annular bead which is received in mutually opposite annular grooves of the tube connection housings. The diaphragm disc is provided, radially outside the valve seat, with openings leading to an outlet chamber, and the wall of the second tube connection housing lying opposite the openings is provided with recesses which communicate with the outlet channel, are separated from each other by supporting surfaces for the diaphragm disc and are connected to the outlet channel by narrow deep grooves.
