  • Publication number: 20130282280
Abstract: A route guidance system for guiding occupants of an enclosed space to a location, such as an exit, the system including a control module with display screen and means for displaying an image of the enclosed space on the display screen. The displayed image is a scale representation of the enclosed space, preferably a bitmap of an architectural drawing of the enclosed space. The control module includes means for enabling a user to locate computer generated icons on the display screen. The control module determines the real world location of the components represented by the icons and communicates this to the relevant system components.

  • Publication number: 20110267179
Abstract: A route guidance system for guiding occupants of an enclosed space to a location, such as an exit, said system comprising a network of interconnected nodes located at spaced locations throughout said enclosed space, at least some of said nodes being adapted to convey route guidance instruction to said occupants, each node comprising a control unit and a communication means enabling the control unit to communicate with the control unit of at least one adjacent node for passing information and/or instructions between adjacent nodes.

  • Patent number: 7940010
Abstract: An emergency lighting system comprising light units and sensors, such as heat detectors, smoke detectors and motion detectors, operable to activate the light units. In the preferred embodiment, the light units are operable to adopt a selected one of at least two illuminated stated depending on the state of the sensors. Each illuminated state may involve the display of a symbol, text message or illumination pattern such as an arrow or a warning indicator, and/or may involve the emission of a respective illumination color. The emergency lighting system may be associated with a set of stairs in order to illuminate the stairs when activated.

  • Publication number: 20110007280
Abstract: A lighting device (10) for a route guidance system comprises a body (12) adapted to be mounted to a surface; at least one light source (18) housed within the body; a corresponding at least one outlet (14, 16) in the body from which light may be emitted; and focusing means (20) operable to focus the light into a beam projecting from the outlet. In one embodiment the device comprises a pair of outlets (14, 16) in the body, the focusing means being operable to focus light from the at least one light source into a pair of beams, one beam projecting from each outlet. In a second embodiment, the focusing means of the device is operable to focus the beam onto an adjacent surface. The device may be adapted to project static and/or moving images onto said adjacent surface.
