  • Patent number: 10004364
Abstract: This invention relates to a wall mountable drip tray (1) of the type comprising a mounting plate (5) for mounting the drip tray to a wall, a liquid reservoir (7) extending forwardly from the mounting plate and in which the wall mountable drip tray further comprises monitoring equipment (9) including a proximity sensor (8) for detecting an individual or equipment in the vicinity of the drip tray. The monitoring equipment further comprises a transceiver for communicating with one or more of a remote control unit (23), a fixed network unit (35) and a mobile network unit (37) of a monitoring system (21). By providing such a wall mountable drip tray, existing hand hygiene infrastructure, specifically wall mounted antibacterial liquid dispensers, in an installation can be incorporated into a new monitoring system and will not become obsolete.

  • Patent number: 9640059
Abstract: This invention relates to a system and method of monitoring hygiene standards compliance in a medical facility in which there is provided a surveillance network having a monitoring unit 3 and a plurality of mobile network units 7. There may additionally be provided a plurality of fixed network units 5. The monitoring unit 3, mobile network units 7 and fixed network units 5 are connected by way of a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN), in this case a ZigBee network. Identification signals are sent from the mobiles network units 7 to the monitoring unit 3 and the monitoring unit stores the identification signals in memory and generates a hygiene standards compliance profile for an individual associated with a particular mobile network unit. The hygiene compliance profile may provide information relating to the number of times that a particular individual washed their hands to information regarding the patients that that individual came into contact with over the course of a shift.

  • Patent number: 8045498
Abstract: This invention relates to a system (3) and method for monitoring the location of a mobile network unit (9) in a low-power localised wireless communication network (10) such as a wireless personal area network (WPAN). The WPAN could be a ZigBee network. The system (3) comprises a localised wireless communication network (10) having a control unit (5), a plurality of fixed network units (7) and a plurality of mobile network units (9). The mobile network units (9) transmit identification signals and two or more fixed network units (7) receive the identification signals directly and calculate the strength of the identification signals. This information is transmitted to the control unit (5) where the control unit processor calculates with a high degree of accuracy the position of the mobile network unit (9). It is possible to track and plot the location and movement of one or more mobile network units.

  • Publication number: 20100063624
Abstract: This invention relates to a monitoring method and system for monitoring the dispensing of medicaments in a hospital from a portable medicament dispensing station. The medicament dispensing station 3 has a first identification means 9 and a second identification means 13 for capturing identifiers relating to an individual wishing to dispense a medicament. A releasable locking mechanism 23 is provided that will allow dispensing of medicaments on appropriate identifiers being captured and authenticated. The identifier data is transmitted to a monitoring unit 5 over a communications network 8 and is stored in a remote monitoring unit memory 7 for future reference. By implementing such a system and method, tampering with the data input to the system is obviated and traceability and accountability are facilitated.
