  • Patent number: 6481879
Abstract: A head lamp with a movable reflector. The headlamp includes a lamp body, a reflector with a light source mounted thereon, and an aiming mechanism interposed between the lamp body and the reflector (14) for tiltably supporting the reflector (14) with respect to the lamp body. The reflector tilts by the rotational movement of the aiming screw which is rotatably supported in a screw insertion hole formed on the lamp body. The screw insertion hole is formed by a tubular portion, and the front portion of the tubular portion includes divided swinging strips (53) which are resiliently deformable in the radial direction. The swinging strips engage with an engaging groove formed on the aiming screw to prevent the aiming screw from being detached from the lamp body. The aiming screw includes a rotatably supported portion formed of resin, a male screw portion, and a gear portion behind the rotatably supported portion.

  • Patent number: 6315611
Abstract: A retaining projection 37 for engagement in a retaining groove 14, formed in a base portion 12 of a bulb 10, is formed on one of a pair of holder pieces 34 of a metal terminal 30, and a connecting projection 36 is formed on the other holder piece 34, and this connecting projection 36 is to be opposed to that portion of a lead wire 13 lying between its proximal end portion and its intermediate portion, and is projected toward the lead wire 13 so as to be held against the lead wire 13. With this construction, even if the base portion 12 is held between the holder pieces 34 and 34, with the distal end portion of the lead wire 13 displaced to be tilted, the connecting projection 36 never fails to be held against the proximal end portion of the lead wire 13, thereby positively achieving an electrical connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6280071
Abstract: A vehicular headlamp including a light source bulb, a reflector reflecting light from the light source bulb forward in a convergent manner, a condensing lens provided at such a position that, of the light reflected from the reflector, at least a meridian light flux in a vertical cross-section is incident as divergent light, a shade provided in proximity to a position of convergence of the meridian light flux and which blocks part of the reflected light, and an aiming bracket to which an aiming member for tilting the reflector is attached. The shade is composed of a metal plate member that is formed integrally with the aiming bracket, and is attached to the reflector. With this construction, the total number of parts of the headlamp is reduced and costs can be reduced accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6083054
Abstract: In the bulb socket 1 according to the invention, the connecting terminal 4 to be insert molded within the bulb insertion portion 2 includes the three surfaces, that is, the two side walls 5, 6 having a substantially L-like shape as a whole and the bottom wall 7. In one side wall 5, there are provided not only contact piece 8 and securing piece 9 which can be respectively contacted with the bulb wedge, but also the inflow preventive piece 11 which prevents the flowing-around molding material from flowing into the bulb storage portion 10 and also can strengthen the fixation of the connecting terminal 4 within the bulb insertion portion 2. Also, when molding the bulb socket 1, the fall preventive cores 20 to prevent the deformation of the side walls 5 and 6 are inserted into the bulb storage portion 10 and also into the peripheral portions of the bulb storage portion 10 and, at the same time, the leading end portion 11a of the inflow preventive piece 11 is insert molded within the bulb socket 1.

  • Patent number: 5823816
Abstract: A vehicular lamp which can be manufactured without removing insulating covers from lamp-side cords to expose the core wires, and in which the lamp-side cords can be readily connected between terminals arranged in a socket or connector, the wiring and connecting of the cords is achieved in a short time, and can be automated. A connector and sockets are detachably mounted on a rear cover. The connector includes a connector casing, and a plurality of terminals. Each of the terminals has a cord connecting groove, the edge of which serves as an insulating cover cutting edge. When the connector casing is engaged with a mounting section and secured with elastic engaging pieces, the terminals are caused to push the cords so that the cords are pushed into the cord connecting grooves of the terminals. In this operation, the insulating covers of the cords are cut by the insulating-cover cutting edge, so that the core wires of the cords are electrically connected to the terminals.
