  • Patent number: 9256779
Abstract: A gesture recognition apparatus for recognizing a gesture of a predetermined operating body includes a storage unit, having stored therein, correspondence relationships between a plurality of coordinate ranges in relation to the operating body and to a plurality of operation target apparatuses, each of the plurality of coordinate ranges further corresponding to each operation target apparatus of the plurality of operation target apparatuses. An image capturing unit captures one or more images of the operating body, a coordinate detecting detects coordinates of the operating body based on the one or more captured images, and an operation target apparatus specifying unit selects an operation target apparatus corresponding to the detected coordinates of the operating body and the stored correspondence relationships. A gesture recognition processing unit recognizes a gesture associated with the operating body based on one or more captured images and corresponding to the selected operation target apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7751945
Abstract: In a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system, when moving image information is transmitted between vehicles, a delay time acquisition unit determines a delay time that occurs when the moving image information is transmitted from a first vehicle to a second vehicle, and an applicability determination unit determines whether the moving image information transmitted with such a delay time is applicable to an application program running on an in-vehicle apparatus installed in the second vehicle. This makes it possible to transmit only moving image information which is usable by the in-vehicle apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20090062982
Abstract: In an in-vehicle equipment control apparatus that includes a vehicle status detection unit, a plurality of steering switches for performing an operation on controlled in-vehicle equipment, and a memory, when an operational instruction given via the plurality of steering switches is detected, a signal corresponding to the operational instruction is output to the in-vehicle equipment, and the operational instruction is stored in the memory. Subsequently, when an operational instruction given via one of the plurality of steering switches is detected, it is determined, on the basis of information from the vehicle status detection unit, whether a vehicle is being steered. When it is determined that the vehicle is being steered, a signal corresponding to an operational instruction that has been stored just before in the memory is output to the in-vehicle equipment.

  • Patent number: 7406381
Abstract: A navigation system, a vehicle navigation apparatus therein, and a method for obtaining navigation information using the same are provided which can obtain navigation information quickly when a vehicle goes off-route by obtaining the navigation information required for route guidance of the vehicle through communications, thereby achieving reduction in communication time and cost. In a vehicle-mounted terminal connected in communication with a server for executing route guidance to provide a guidance route from the present position of the vehicle to a destination, when the vehicle reaches a point located at a predetermined distance before a fork representing the next turn on the guidance route, the server is accessed to set a communication means in a communication connection stand-by state. If the vehicle deviates from the guidance route, information needed for the vehicle to return to the guidance route is requested from the server.

  • Patent number: 5251250
Abstract: A method of storing a callers telephone number transmitted from a caller in a during-absence automatic telephone answering state in a memory, and a vehicle telephone system. This method comprises a step of providing in the system a first memory having storage areas for storing telephone numbers and names of callers as data therein, and a second memory for storing therein as data telephone numbers transmitted from callers in a during-absence automatic telephone answering state; a step of checking whether the telephone number transmitted from one of the callers in the automatic telephone answering state coincides with one of the telephone numbers registered in the first memory; a step of reading one of the names stored in the first memory in response to the telephone number coincident with one telephone number referred to above if it is determined to be positive in the second step; and a step of storing the telephone number transmitted from the one caller and the name thus read in the second memory.
