  • Patent number: 5668581
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus includes a printing head operable to emit ink onto a printing sheet, the printing head being movable along a first direction; a sheet transporter operable to transport the printing sheet along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; a head moving mechanism operable to reciprocally move the printing head along the first direction; and a controller which controls the sheet transporter and the head moving mechanism to execute a first printing mode of moving the printing head while holding the printing sheet in a stationary position and a second printing mode of moving the printing sheet while holding the printing head at a stationary position.

  • Patent number: 5615877
Abstract: A sheet transporting device for use in an image forming apparatus includes a first and second sheet transporting members movable in widthwise directions of sheet to be transported, the first sheet transporting member for transporting the sheet in a lengthwise direction of the sheet in contact with one side end portion of the sheet, the second sheet transporting member for transporting the sheet in the lengthwise direction in contact with the other side end portion of the sheet; a moving mechanism for moving the first and second sheet transporting members in widthwise directions of the sheet: a sheet feeder provided at an upstream of the first and second sheet transporting members for holding the sheet temporarily and feeding the sheet to the first and second sheet transporting members; and a controller for controlling the moving mechanism and the sheet feeder to move the first and second sheet transporting members until they come into contact with the sheet while rendering the sheet feeder hold the sheet.

  • Patent number: 5369424
Abstract: Conveying devices, operation of which is stopped during printing, are provided upstream and downstream, as seen in a direction of conveying of a paper, of a platen arranged to face a printing head. The platen is provided with an electrostatic attraction member electrostatically the paper by the application of a voltage. A first control applies the voltage to the member during printing until a leading end of the paper arrives at the downstream conveying device. A second control applied the voltage to the member during printing after conveyance of a trailing end of the paper by the upstream conveying device is completed. Thereby, lifting of the end portions of the paper away from the platen is prevented, thus avoiding unprintable margins at such end portions of the paper.

  • Patent number: 4992832
Abstract: A developing apparatus includes a developing roller which conveys developer on the surface thereof by the rotation in a predetermined direction. The developer conveyed thereon to develop a latent image formed on an image-holding device. A supply roller rotates keeping contact with the developing roller and by the rotation of which the developer is supplied to the developing roller. A regulating member regulates the amount of the developer to be conveyed on the surface of the developing roller. The supply roller is so disposed that the axis thereof is positioned lower than that of the developing roller while the top thereof is also positioned lower than that of the developing roller.

  • Patent number: 4862218
Abstract: A supporting apparatus for optical unit having an optical unit to expose an original set on a contact glass, a reciprocatingly movable supporting frame body equipped with the optical unit, a sliding member provided on both ends of the supporting frame body, and an eccentric cam mechanism provided on one end of the supporting frame body to vertically adjust one of the sliding member. By operating the eccentric cam mechanism, one end of the supporting frame body can be adjusted to a desired height so as to enable to adjust horizontality of the optical unit mounted on the supporting frame body. Furthermore, because a large gap is provided between a pair of sliding members provided on one end of each supporting frame body and the ends of the two supporting frame bodies where the sliding members are mounted are mutually disposed at reverse side, both supporting frame bodies can be caused to come as close at their home positions as possible.

  • Patent number: 4814815
Abstract: An image-generating device for an electrophotographic copying machine; is provided with a white-color reflection plate at a specific position on a component part supporting the light source that is used for illuminating the original document in order to prevent charge from being generated at the position where the separation belt comes into contact with the photoreceptor, while the device sufficiently cancels charge by effectively applying a tapered tip part of the white-color reflection plate without causing a black streak to be generated.

  • Patent number: 4814833
Abstract: A document size detecting device with the arm which folds by interlocking with the reciprocating motion of the optical system of the image forming apparatus and extends and contracts by interlocking with the reciprocating motion of the optical system. The optical sensor for detection of the document size is installed at a prescribed position of the arm and the feeder line for the light source is held. Therefore, the special mechanism for holding the feeder line is not necessary and it is possible to achieve simplified construction of the image forming apparatus. Also, because the feeder line is caused to curve along the outside of the arm at the rotating section thereof, it is possible to provide a large radius of the bent portion of the feeder line, there will be no considerably concentrated stress which is locally applied to the feeder line, therefore the life of the feeder line can be extended.
