  • Patent number: 6587162
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device in which electrolytic corrosion is prevented from occurring at the intersections of gate lines and drain lines or in a lead terminal portion over an active matrix substrate. In the liquid crystal display device, each interconnection of a gate line and a drain line over the active matrix substrate is formed to have the gate line, a gate insulating layer, a semiconductor layer, a contact layer, the drain line and a passivation layer all stacked in that order from the active matrix substrate, and a capping layer, which is made of the same ITO layer as a pixel electrode layer, is formed over the passivation layer at the intersection of the gate line and the drain line over the active matrix substrate.

  • Publication number: 20030117358
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device in which the time necessary for luminance to change from application of a different gray-scale voltage exceeds one frame period in relation to the response as a luminance change time of the liquid crystal. The liquid crystal display device includes a signal control circuit for preventing the content of a preceding frame from being displayed as an after-image and preventing also deterioration of image quality. The signal control circuit includes a frame memory for delaying by one frame the first display data inputted from the external device, an arithmetic operation circuit for comparing the second display data stored in the frame memory and delayed by one frame with the first display data, and an addition/subtraction circuit for adding and subtracting correction data outputted by the arithmetic operation circuit to and from the first display data.

  • Publication number: 20030086045
Abstract: Below a transparent pixel electrode, an opaque pixel electrode is arranged while sandwiching an insulation film between the transparent pixel electrode and the opaque pixel electrode. A common electrode is arranged below the opaque pixel electrode thus forming a holding capacitance between the common electrode and an opaque metal electrode. In case when the pixel is divided into four or more portions, an interval between the pixel electrode and the common electrode is set to an unequal pitch size or an unequal electrode width within one pixel.

  • Patent number: 6525705
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device having a repair line for replacing a signal line disconnected in a display area thereof and extended from one side thereof to another side thereof opposite to the one side thereof, there is provided a signal amplifier on a circuit board arranged at the one side thereof. Since the circuit board supplies control signals to a signal driver circuit which outputs a video signal or the like to be transferred by the repair line toward another side of the liquid crystal display device, the video signal can be amplified by the signal amplifier before its waveform is deformed on its way through the repair line. Therefore, the video signal can be supplied to a part of the disconnected signal line at the another side of the liquid crystal display device by preventing the video signal from being deformed and delayed.
