  • Patent number: 6255921
Abstract: A conducting film is formed on a dielectric block in a dielectric waveguide resonator, and a through-hole is formed in the dielectric block. The unloaded Q is set by selecting the outside dimensions of the dielectric block. The resonance frequency is set by selecting the size and location of the through-hole as well as the outside dimensions of the dielectric block. A terminal electrode is formed on the outer surface of the dielectric block. A coupling hole is formed in the dielectric block and a coupling electrode is formed on the inner surface of the coupling hole. One end of the coupling electrode is connected to the terminal electrode and the other end of the coupling electrode is either connected to the conducting film formed on the outer surface of the dielectric block or terminated inside the dielectric block. The above structure allows an increase in the degree of freedom in the design of the characteristics including the resonance frequency and unloaded Q of the dielectric waveguide resonator.

  • Patent number: 5952897
Abstract: A miniaturized dielectric filter unit exhibiting desired characteristics is formed in which a plurality of resonators are disposed within a dielectric block. A plurality of internal conductors are disposed within the dielectric block. An external conductor and an input/output electrode are formed on an outer surface of the dielectric block. A slit having an electrode therein, which is electrically connected to the input/output electrode, is provided each of between two adjacent through-holes having the internal conductors therein. Thus, unwanted coupling between the input/output sharing filters is prevented, and an external coupling circuit is configured by capacitive coupling. It is thus possible to individually design the respective filters and further to enhance easy designing of the overall filter unit. A transmitting/receiving-sharing unit and a multiplexer, both of which are similar to the above-described dielectric filter unit, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4821006
Abstract: The dielectric resonator apparatus is characterized in that electric walls exist on one plane or two including the central axis of the electromagnetic field distribution in the using mode of a dielectric resonator, a dielectric resonator with either of dielectrics between the electric wall being removed in shape is provided by plurality, an equivalent axis is common to the central axis of each of the dielectric resonators, with the dielectric resonators being inductively coupled in the axial direction. A dielectric resonator which prevents the current from being concentrated on the central axis of the electromagnetic field distribution, is collectively smaller in the Joule loss and is higher in Q. The dielectric resonator of the present invention is characterized in that the dielectric close to the central axis is removed, wherein electric walls exist on one plane or two including the central axis of the electromagnetic field distribution in a dielectric resonator using, for instance, a TE.sub.01.delta.

  • Patent number: 4733208
Abstract: A dielectric filter comprises a cubic dielectric block in which a plurality of holes arranged in the longitudinal direction are formed vertically therethrough. On outer surfaces of the dielectric block, an outer conductor is formed except on the upper surface. On inner surfaces of a plurality of the holes, inner conductors constituting resonance elements in cooperation with the outer conductor are formed. Grooves are formed in the dielectric block between the adjacent resonance elements. Thereby, impedance of a part of a lengthwise direction of at least one of the adjacent resonance elements differs from that of the other part, at least in one of the even and odd modes. In order to have different impedances, notches may be formed on the dielectric block between the adjacent inner conductors or large and small diameter portions may be formed in the holes or further the two methods may be combined.
