  • Patent number: 7708129
Abstract: A multiple coin actuation mechanism has a latch biased to an inward home position with its inner end extending through an upstream side of a first coin slot of a stationary front cover plate toward a rotatable carrier wheel and generally alongside an unobstructed path for insertion of a first coin through the first coin slot into a first coin recess of the carrier wheel. The latch is pivotally yieldably movable away from the carrier wheel due to engagement with a second coin in a second coin recess in the rotatable carrier wheel, as the second coin is brought into alignment with the first coin slot, to allow the second coin to pass under the latch while the latch remains in contact with the second coin, preventing its removal from the second coin recess outwardly through the first coin slot, as the carrier wheel rotates past the first coin slot.

  • Patent number: 7588136
Abstract: An anti-vandalism device in a coin-operated actuation mechanism includes a stop movably extendible and compressible in length and mounted on a coin retainer plate in alignment with a bore therein for moving between a forward blocking position and a rearward unblocking position relative to the bore and to a coin receiving recess in a coin carrier wheel on an opposite side of the retainer plate depending upon whether or not the recess is devoid of a valid coin, and a cam surface actuator defined on a ratchet gear wheel disposed adjacent to the coin retainer plate in a position to engage the stop and cause it to move from its rearward unblocking position to its forward blocking position when the coin receiving recess is devoid of a valid coin and in response to the ratchet gear wheel moving with the coin carrier wheel.

  • Patent number: 7516831
Abstract: Foreign object removal-enabling features in a coin-operated item vending and game apparatus housing include a shallow V-shaped guard wall extending between a pair of opposing sidewalls of a lower end portion of the housing, a pair of openings each in one of the opposing sidewalls adjacent opposite ends of the guard wall, and another opening in a front wall of the housing below and in front of the guard wall. The guard wall is positioned to block debris, such as pieces of paper, from traveling on a path to a coin slot of a coin deposit while providing a slot in the guard wall for permitting a coin to pass through the guard wall to the coin slot. The wall openings will permit insertion a tweezers or other tool therethrough enable the debris removal.

  • Patent number: 7270225
Abstract: A dual coin mechanism for a vending machine includes a cover plate having a peripheral flange with first and second coin slots defined therein angularly and axially offset from one another about and along an axis defined by the cover plate, and first and second coin carrier wheels mounted for rotation about the axis relative to the cover plate and respectively having first and second coin recesses angularly and axially offset from one another about and along the axis. The axially offset relationships between the first and second slots, the first and second recesses and consequently first and second paths taken by first and second coins carried in the first and second recesses ensure that the first and second coins are not brought into alignment respectively with the second and first slots and thus are made inaccessible to a user during their travel along the first and second paths.

  • Patent number: 7267216
Abstract: A coin-operated vending machine includes fastening elements adapted to be reached to fasten a lower base to an upper body by inserting a tool through openings in the lower base bottom once a coin box is removed from the lower base whereas the elements cannot be reached and unfastened when the openings are blocked by the coin box in the lower base, a transverse wall attached to an outer wall of the upper body and disposed across the upper body so as to block off access to the coin box by reaching through the upper body with a head of the machine removed, a central rod adapted to assemble the upper body to the head being fixedly attached upon the transverse wall, and a motion-responsive device operable in conjunction with a coin chute to permit coins only to pass through it from a coin-actuated mechanism to the coin box.

  • Patent number: 7222711
Abstract: A multiple coin actuation mechanism has a carrier wheel with angularly spaced first and second coin recesses aligned with first and second coin slots of a front cover plate when the carrier wheel is in an initial home position at which a user initially deposits first and second coins into the first and second coin recesses through the first and second coin slots. A pivotal coin removal blocking latch and an edge notch defined adjacent to one side of the first coin recess in the carrier wheel allows initial insertion of the first coin through the first coin slot into the first coin recess while preventing removal of the second coin from the second coin recess through the first coin slot when the carrier wheel has turned sufficiently to align the second coin recess with the first coin slot.

  • Patent number: 7182219
Abstract: A coin-operated vending machine includes a magazine which stores small boxes or packages of items one on top of the next in columns or stacks arranged in a circumferential row thereof and a dispensing mechanism operable to effectively dispenses such small boxes or packages of items one at a time from a selected one of the stacks thereof. The vending machine also includes a one-way indexing mechanism operatively adapted to limit rotation movement of the magazine to only one rotational direction and a reciprocal locking mechanism capable of coacting with the dispensing mechanism to lock the magazine in a stationary position when a lowermost package is received in the dispensing mechanism from the selected one of the stacks.

  • Patent number: 7066351
Abstract: A sanitized dispensing mechanism mounted to a vending machine includes a receptacle, a barrier and an actuating device. The receptacle has an interior chamber and a rear opening behind the interior chamber through which an item discharged from an exterior opening of the vending machine is received into the interior chamber. The barrier is mounted across the receptacle above a bottom opening below the interior chamber and, in response to a user moving the actuating device between first and second positions, is moved between receiving and dispensing positions. In the receiving position, the barrier receives and retains the item in the interior chamber blocking it from dropping through the bottom opening. In the dispensing position, the barrier releases the item from the interior chamber allowing it to drop through the bottom opening onto a user's hand.

  • Patent number: 7025258
Abstract: A ball bearing actuation mechanism includes a circular gauge wheel rotatably mounted in an interior chamber of a housing below an inlet passage and adjacent to outlet and overflow discharge openings of the housing and a curved retainer wall mounted to the housing in the interior chamber adjacent to a peripheral groove on the gauge wheel so as to form a channel therebetween which extends between the inlet passage and discharge outlet opening of the housing. The peripheral groove has a length preset to receive a preset number of ball bearings in single file fashion therein when the ball bearings are deposited into interior chamber via the inlet passage such that any ball bearings above the preset number deposited into the inlet passage of the housing will divert to the overflow discharge outlet of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6935530
Abstract: A dual station coin-operated vending machine includes a housing, a globe on the housing with a central vertical partition dividing a reservoir of the globe into separate compartments, a pair of coin-operated dispensing mechanisms each disposed in the housing below one globe compartment, a pair of discharge chutes disposed in the housing below and each associated with one dispensing mechanism, and a dual hopper disposed in the housing below the globe and above the dispensing mechanisms. The dual hopper has a downwardly concave shaped top surface leading to spaced apart openings therein, each overlying and aligned with a dispensing wheel of one dispensing mechanism, and a raised ridge formed on the top surface and aligned below the globe partition so as to isolate the dual hopper openings from one another to receive items only from separate globe compartments.
