  • Patent number: 4713079
Abstract: Hard spherical bleaching particles are disclosed the core of each particle comprising a dihalohydantoin bleach active, a buffer salt and a binder which mixture when dissolved in water provides a pH of less than 9.5. The core may be encapsulated within an outer coating. Fabric pinhole damage is substantially reduced when bleaching with the foregoing particles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 31, 1985
Date of Patent: December 15, 1987
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Kil Whan Chun, Clemens A. Kyllmann
  • Patent number: 4707160
Abstract: A bleach particle is provided whose core is an intimately dispersed agglomerated mixture of a halogen bleaching agent, an inorganic phosphate salt and a binder with melting point 85.degree. to 120.degree. F. In the preferred composition there is present dichloroisocyanurate, sodium tripolyphosphate and lauric acid, respectively. These core particles have a uniform round shape, are of high strength and obtainable in good yields.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 31, 1985
Date of Patent: November 17, 1987
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Kil Whan Chun, Allan H. Gilbert, David J. Lang, Edward Santos
  • Patent number: 4655780
Abstract: Hard spherical bleaching particles are disclosed whose composition is an intimately dispersed agglomerated core mixture of an active halogen oxidizing material, an inorganic diluent salt and a binder. The cores are coated with a mixture of from about 70-85% of a C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 fatty acid soap and from about 15-30% of a C.sub.12 -C.sub.14 fatty acid soap. A method for bleaching substrates as well as a process for preparing the bleach particles are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 31, 1985
Date of Patent: April 7, 1987
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Kil Whan Chun, David J. Lang, Edward Santos
  • Patent number: 3983254
Abstract: Particles of a fluidizable substance are coated with a complete and continuous coating by a process wherein a non-aqueous solution of a coating substance is sprayed from a nozzle downwardly on a fluidized bed of the particles to be coated, the nozzle height being adjusted so that the liquid droplets of coating material would just cover the cross-sectional area of the upper surface of the bed, if sprayed on the unexpanded bed. When the aforementioned coating is a fatty acid having 12-20 carbon atoms applied to particles of a chlorine-releasing agent, and when a second coating is applied by treatment with a solution of a fixed alkali hydroxide, i.e., sodium, potassium, or calcium hydroxide, an effective, completely encapsulated, non-pinholing bleach product is obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 14, 1975
Date of Patent: September 28, 1976
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: David S. Alterman, Kil Whan Chun
