  • Publication number: 20240053067
Abstract: A regenerator for a magnetic heat exchanger is provided. The regenerator comprises a housing having a chamber, an inlet and outlet for a working medium, and a chamber volume V. At least one magnetocalorically active component is arranged in the chamber between the inlet and the outlet and has at least one inner flow channel with a hydraulic diameter dhyd. The volume of the chamber not occupied by the magnetocalorically active component provides at least one bypass flow channel, both the inlet and the outlet being reached from the at least one bypass flow channel, and this bypass flow channel having a hydraulic diameter D, where D>dhyd. The at least one inner flow channel of the magnetocalorically active component is in flow communication with the bypass flow channel. The magnetocalorically active component and the at least one bypass flow channel are arranged parallel to one another.

  • Publication number: 20230417492
Abstract: A heat pipe having a working chamber having an evaporator region operatively connected to a heat source, and a condenser region operatively connected to a heat sink. A working fluid is provided in the working chamber, and heat is transferred from the heat source to the heat sink by the working fluid in a first state of operation. The heat pipe is a switchable and/or programmable thermal diode or a switchable and/or programmable heat switch, at least one activatable functional material is provided, which is arranged and configured to keep the evaporator region free of the working fluid and/or to prevent the working fluid from evaporating in a second state of operation, in order to reduce and/or hinder heat transfer and/or to alter the preferential direction of heat conduction. A system and method for switching and/or programming heat transfer in a heat pipe are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20230137699
Abstract: A method for stabilization and/or control and/or regulation of the working temperature of a cyclic-process-based system having at least one heat-exchanger unit with at least one calorically active material element. It is essential that a base temperature of the calorically active material element (11, 12) is controlled by a cooling fluid. A heat-exchanger unit, a refrigeration machine, and a heat pump according to this are also provided.

  • Patent number: 11454429
Abstract: A method for operating cyclic process-based systems, with a hot-side reservoir (1) and a cold-side reservoir (2) for a fluid (3), and at least one heat exchanger unit (4) with mechanocaloric material, wherein the mechanocaloric material of the heat exchanger unit (4) is actively connected to the fluid (3) such that heat is transferred between the mechanocaloric material and the fluid (3). It is essential that the transfer of heat between the mechanocaloric material and the fluid (3) takes place essentially by latent heat transfer. A corresponding heat-transfer unit (4) and a corresponding apparatus are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170198948
Abstract: The invention relates to an air conditioning device having at least one heat pipe (100), in particular a thermosiphon, having at least one electro- or magnetocaloric material (4) under at least temporary influence of an electrical and/or magnet field, and having a heat transfer oriented from one first end to another second end of the heat pipe. A plurality of these heat pipes, having electro- or magnetocaloric materials integrated or arranged therein, are preferably contained, connected in series in a cascade-like manner and optionally connected to one another via heat exchangers or switchable heat flow regulators.

  • Patent number: 7248974
Abstract: A measuring instrument whose measuring principle is based on an oscillator, for example an eddy counter, and in which there is arranged a sensor for recording a measured signal (S(t)), which can be supplied to an evaluation unit (2), characterized in that, from the phase increments psi(tau,t), that is to say from the differences between the instantaneous values phi(t) of the phase signal derived from the measured signal S(t) in a phase extractor (18) and values phi(t-tau) time-delayed by a delayed time tau, a coupling indicator value (KI) is formed in such a way that the existence of phase coupling with a further oscillator can be detected on the latter by means of comparison with a coupling reference value (KR).
