  • Patent number: 8040851
Abstract: A method and system of reducing handover time in a mobile IP network. An Foreign Agent (FA), when a terminal carries out a handover between mobile Internet Protocol Version-4 (IPv4) sub-networks of the Foreign Agent (FA), identifies whether or not a registration request message from the terminal is transmitted from an entry of a visitor list of the Foreign Agent (FA). If the registration request message is transmitted from the entry of the visitor list, interface information of a corresponding one of the sub-networks, to which the terminal registered in the visitor list is connected, is updated. A registration reply message is generated in response to the registration request message, and is transmitted to the terminal.

  • Patent number: 7477620
Abstract: Managing network information in Access Routers (ARs) includes: communicating with neighboring Access Routers (ARs) to obtain information of each of the ARs and Access Points (APs) belonging to a subnet of a relevant AR; storing the information of the ARs and APs in a database; and performing a communication network service in accordance with the information stored in the database. Desired information can be shared without a need for adding any separate element to the network architecture. In addition, because a Candidate Access Router (CAR) table is generated during the operation of the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), the AR immediately responds to the information requested by a mobile node so as not to increase a handoff delay and so as to reduce a burden of the mobile node.

  • Publication number: 20080198809
Abstract: In a mobile network and a handover method of the mobile network, the uniqueness of an Mobile Station (MS) Medium Access Control (MAC) address is verified when the MS initially enters the mobile network, so that a Duplicate Address Detection (DAD) process may be skipped when the MS hands over to another subnet in the network, thereby shortening an MS handover latency in the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 7116654
Abstract: There is provided a route optimization method in a mobile Internet Protocol (IP) system using a mobile Internet Protocol. When a mobile host (MH) moves over the Internet and is assigned to a care-of-address (CoA) corresponding to a changed point of attachment to the Internet, it sends a registration request message containing the care-of address to a home agent (HA) via a foreign agent (FA). The home agent stores the care-of address in relation to a domain name of the mobile host in an internal domain name server database. Upon receipt of a query about the mobile host by domain name from a correspondent node (CN), the home agent sends the care-of address corresponding to the domain name of the mobile host together with caching prevention information to the correspondent node. The caching prevention information is set to prevent the correspondent node or another domain name server from caching the care-of address of the mobile host.

  • Publication number: 20060182025
Abstract: A method of Transport Control Protocol (TCP) congestion control using multiple TCP AKCs in an integrated network including wireless links, the method including: receiving a packet retransmitted from a correspondent upon a mobile node having a packet loss in a received packet; calculating the number of acknowledgment messages to be transmitted by the mobile node; generating multiple acknowledgment messages according to the calculated number and transmitting the multiple acknowledgment messages to a transmitting node; and increasing a congestion window value corresponding to the multiple acknowledgment messages received by the transmitting node, and executing the TCP transmission.

  • Publication number: 20050074010
Abstract: A method and apparatus for exchanging routing information in a distributed router system provide enhanced reliability of routing information exchanged between routing processors. To exchange routing information between routing processors in a distributed router system, a transceiving unit adds a header, including a sequence number, to update information transmitted from the routing protocol daemon, and multicasts the update information to another peer. A control unit transmits a sequential update packet, provided by a peer, to the transceiving unit, and a continuous update packet is stored in a receiver buffer for the routing protocol daemon. The control unit then stores in the receiver buffer a non-sequential update packet provided by another peer to the transceiving unit, in the receiver buffer, receives a synchronous signal from another peer, and releases the sender buffer.

  • Publication number: 20040240413
Abstract: A method for controlling packet transmission using a bind update message upon handoff of a mobile node in an IPv6 based wireless network comprise the steps of: when a retransmission timeout occurs after transmitting a packet via a transmission control protocol (TCP) connection established with an arbitrary mobile node, storing a currently set congestion control parameter; retrieving each TCP connection established with a relevant mobile node so as to modify the currently set congestion control parameter to form a congestion control value, and performing congestion control; and, when the bind update message from the mobile node is received, retrieving each TCP connection established with the relevant mobile node, and restoring the congestion control parameter to a value stored before performing the congestion control.
