  • Publication number: 20070179234
Abstract: A composition comprising at least one high Tg amorphous resin with a fibrous filler shows improved melt processability. Addition of a sulfonate salt to the compositions gives increased melt flow as well as enhanced flame retardancy in a composition which is substantially free of bromine and chlorine.

    Publication date: August 2, 2007
    Applicant: GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY
Inventors: Kim Choate, Robert Gallucci, Nazan Gunduz, Tsutomu Kinoshita, Tatsuya Uchiyama
  • Patent number: 7244778
Abstract: Problem To offer a suitable polyether imide resin composition for the plastic components for automobiles, domestic appliances or OA apparatus, equipment's for media where heat resistance, dimensional stability and fire retardancy is required. Means for solving the problem Filler reinforced polyether imide resin composition is characterized by containing (A) polyether imide resin, (B) thermoplastic resin, (C) fibrous reinforced filler and (D) Non-fibrous inorganic filler, wherein the amount of (A) polyether imide resin is 1 to 95% by weight, (B) thermoplastic resin: 1 to 95% by weight, (C) fibrous reinforced filler: 2 to 80% by weight, (D) Non-fibrous inorganic filler: 2 to 80% by weight, when total of (A) to (D) is 100% by weight.

  • Patent number: 6613820
Abstract: To provide a polycarbonate resin composition that has excellent moisture resistance, good flame resistance, and markedly superior mechanical strength. Means for Solution: A resin composition containing (A) 1 to 99 weight parts of a polycarbonate resin having a viscosity average molecular weight of 10,000 to 100,000 and (B) 1 to 99 weight parts of a styrene resin, and also containing (C) a phosphoric ester compound with an acid value of 1 or less, in an amount of 1 to 40 weight parts per combined 100 weight parts of (A)+(B), and (D) a reinforcing agent in an amount of 1 to 100 weight parts per combined 100 weight parts of (A)+(B)+(C).

  • Patent number: 6308142
Abstract: A method for determining flame retardance of polymer compositions includes subjecting a plurality of specimens of a polymer composition to a flame test and performing a statistical analysis of the data obtained. The statistical analysis includes determining the probability of at least one possible outcome of the flame test. The probability of possible outcomes provides a measure of the flame retardance of the polymer composition. A preferred flame test is the UL-94 flame test.
