  • Patent number: 4662481
Abstract: An elevator system having a car mounted governor which includes a rotatable portion biased against a guide rail, and a fixed portion. The governor is pivoted from an operating position in which the rotatable portion rotates in response to car movement, to an operated position, in response to the locking of the rotatable portion to the fixed portion by predetermined car speed in the down travel direction. Movement of the governor to the operated position actuates a car safety via a suitable link.

  • Patent number: 4650037
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for selectively controlling the energization of a plurality of lamps in an elevator system, utilizing a microcomputer based lamp controller, and for detecting failure of the lamps while utilizing a minimum number of communication lines. A first communication line synchronizes signals which are placed on the remaining communication lines. Signals indicating the need for lamp energization are detected by the lamp controller. When such signals are recognized by the lamp controller, the lamp controller prepares and places signals on a second communication line which requests lamp energization of the associated lamps, and it stores indications of the requests. Signals responsive to the detection of actual energization of a lamp are placed on a third communication line and directed to the lamp controller.

  • Patent number: 4620615
Abstract: Traction enhancement for a traction elevator system has an elevator car and counterweight connected by a plurality of wire ropes reeved about a drive sheave with a predetermined angle of wrap. An arcuate frame having a plurality of rollers has one end pivotally and adjustably fixed, while its other end biases the rollers against the ropes in the angle of wrap with a tension spring. Over travel of the elevator car releases the bias to allow the ropes to slip should the counterweight reach an end of its travel path.
