  • Publication number: 20210374218
Abstract: A method is described for biometric enrolment of a biometrically authorisable device having a biometric sensor for identification of an authorised user and a processor capable of permitting access to one or more secure feature(s) based on authentication of the user's identity. The enrolment method includes mounting the biometrically authorisable device to a holder in order to form an enrolment system arranged to be delivered to the end user by mail. The holder has a power source such that during delivery the supply of power is deactivated and the holder includes a switching arrangement configured to activate the supply of power in response to manipulation of the holder. The enrolment system is delivered to the user and the supply of power is activated in response to manipulation of the holder by the user.

  • Patent number: 10922598
Abstract: A fingerprint authorisable smartcard may include a fingerprint sensor for obtaining fingerprint data from a user's finger or thumb, and a control system for controlling the smartcard. The control system may be arranged to provide access to one or more functions of the smartcard in response to identification of an authorised fingerprint and the control system further may include a fingerprint failure feature in which a non-fingerprint authorisation can act to at least partially replace the fingerprint authorisation such that the control system may be arranged to provide access to at least some of the one or more functions of the smartcard when a user is identified via the non-fingerprint authorisation. The non-fingerprint authorisation may require an interaction with the fingerprint authorisable smartcard by the user, the interaction including one or more action(s) detected via the fingerprint sensor.

  • Publication number: 20190220582
Abstract: A method for enrolment of biometric data to a biometrically authorisable device (102) is described. The method comprises: using a configuration system (24) for configuration of software and/or hardware on the biometrically authorisable device (102). The configuration system (24) receives biometric data for a user (22) from a mobile device (28), the configuration system (24) being remote from the mobile device (28) and communicating with the mobile device via a data transmission network (26). The mobile device (28) is a device known to the user and previously used by the user for secure or personal communication, for example a smartphone (28). The configuration system (24) enrols the biometric data to the biometrically authorised device (102) and provides personalisation data to the biometrically authorisable device (102).

  • Publication number: 20170323166
Abstract: A smart card 102 may include a processor for controlling operation of the smartcard, a biometric sensor for identification of an authorised user, and an accelerometer for sensing movements of the smartcard. The processor may be arranged to permit access to one or more secure feature(s) of the smartcard based on the movements sensed by the accelerometer and authentication of the user's identity via the biometric sensor.
