  • Patent number: 10833568
Abstract: A generator grounding module selectively mountable to a support bracket and selectively engageable with a rotor includes a plate member movable along a mounting axis to selectively attach the generator grounding module to the support bracket, the plate member movable between a first position and a second position in which the plate member is substantially fixed with respect to the support bracket. A mounting block is movable along the mounting axis with respect to the plate member, a grounding strap is coupled to the mounting block and is movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position in which the grounding strap contacts the rotor, and a biasing assembly is connected to the plate member and the mounting block and operable to bias the mounting block along the mounting axis toward the plate member, wherein the plate member is fixedly attached to the support bracket when in the second position and the biasing assembly biases the grounding strap into the engaged position.

  • Publication number: 20150165495
Abstract: A method for an abrasive cleaning of inner-cooled generator coil is presented. A shear hardening medium with suspended abrasive particles is filled into cooling passages of the generator coil. Hydraulic pressure is applied to the shear hardening medium which locks the abrasive particles into a matrix position. A flow is imparted to the shear hardening medium with the cooling passage which applies a shearing force to the shear hardening medium. The locked abrasives and the shearing force abrade an inner wall of the cooling passage and remove deposits and products of corrosion from the inner wall of the cooling passage. After removing the deposits and products of corrosion, the hydraulic pressure is released and the shear hardening medium is flushed out of the cooling passages.

  • Patent number: 6798079
Abstract: A turbine power generator 20 includes a housing 22, a shaft 24, a turbine 26 to drive the shaft, a shaft-driven generator rotor 28, and generator stator 30 within the housing and surrounding the rotor. A main cooling gas blower 32 includes at least one blade 34 driven by the shaft 24 for causing a main flow of cooling gas to cool the rotor 28 and/or stator 30. A supplemental cooling gas blower 36 is connected in parallel with the main cooling gas blower 32 for causing a supplemental flow of cooling gas through the housing 22 in addition to the main flow of cooling gas to cool the rotor 28 and/or stator 30. The supplemental cooling gas blower may include an electric motor 38 and at least one blade 40 driven thereby. A controller 39 may be connected to the electric motor 38 to permit selective operation of the supplemental cooling gas blower 36.
