  • Patent number: 9327712
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes a location awareness module that determines an energy profile for a portion of a roadway or for a known route. The energy profile includes one or more measurements of regenerative braking operations for predicted braking events. The hybrid vehicle determines an efficient use of an electric motor and generator (EMG) based on the energy profile of the roadway portion or the route. When the energy profile includes a predicted braking event, the hybrid vehicle determines to engage the EMG to discharge the battery system prior to the regenerative braking operation for the predicted braking event.

  • Patent number: 9258525
Abstract: A system and a method for producing a low-latency video for transmission over a network. The low-latency video may be created by modeling a select portion of original video data and comparing a current frame of the model against previous frames of the model in order to estimate the select portions of the original video data. The estimated, select portions of the original video data may be combined with a remainder of the original video data (such as background images) in order to produce the low-latency video. Model data and the original video data can be transmitted over the network using different paths in order to ensure that the model data is transmitted as quickly as possible, thereby allowing enough time for a morpher to process the model data before combining the model with the original video data.

  • Publication number: 20150350722
Abstract: Providing a fast channel change function in a digital television system by processing compressed video streams to provide high priority (HP) and low priority (LP) encoded streams, which streams may also be hierarchically modulated to provide, respectively, long interleave and short interleave modulated signals for transmission, wherein a receiver may rapidly demodulate and use information within the low priority signal of a new channel to more rapidly change to the new channel.

  • Patent number: 9148463
Abstract: A multimedia transceiver apparatus continuously generates a model of a video scene, and then uses the generated model to estimate missing sections (e.g., image frames) of the video stream by morphing and/or modifying available uncorrupted video data based on the model. By estimating the missing sections, the subjective quality of video under error conditions (e.g., image frame loss, image frame corruption, video signal interruption, etc.) is improved.

  • Patent number: 8516531
Abstract: Technology which facilitates a reduction in time of the presentation of video content after a viewer changes channels is described. Frames of a video stream associated with a channel are analyzed to identify locations of access points in the video stream prior to relaying the video stream to a presentation device. Information indicating the locations of access points is stored. The video stream is then time shifted on a continuous basis and is transmitted to the presentation device which made the request for as long as the presentation device remains tuned to the channel corresponding to the request. A first available frame on or before an access point of the time shifted video stream is selected based on the stored information, which is used to commence the transmission of the time shifted video to the presentation device, which facilitates a more immediate presentation of video content.
