  • Patent number: 4729843
Abstract: The present invention provides a new collector for use in the froth flotation of metal values from their ores. The collector comprises a synergistic mixture of alkyl xanthogen alkyl formates and dialkyl thionocarbamates, and yields metal recoveries superior to that achieved with either collector alone. According to the present invention the novel collector for use in froth flotation comprises a mixture of alkyl xanthogen alkyl formates having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a branched or straight chain alkyl substituent having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and R' is selected from the class consisting of ethyl and methyl; anddialkyl thionocarbamates having the general formula: ##STR2## wherein Y is a branched or straight chain alkyl substituent having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and Y' is selected from the class consisting of ethyl and methyl.

  • Patent number: 4689142
Abstract: A method and product for concentrating metal values from their ores employing alkyl mercaptans as collector additives in froth flotation, wherein there is provided a mixture of (I) a collector selected from the class consisting of at least one of (A) an alkyl xanthogen alkyl formate compound having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a branched or straight chain alkyl substituent having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and R' is selected from the class consisting of one of ethyl and methyl; and (B) a dialkyl thionocarbamate compound having the formula: ##STR2## wherein Y is a branched or straight chain alkyl substituent having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and Y' is selected from the class consisting of one of ethyl and ethyl; and (II) an alkyl mercaptan having the formula:Z--SHwherein Z is a branched or straight chain alkyl substituent having 4 to 16 carbon atoms. Isobutyl xanthogen ethyl formate, N-methyl-O-ethyl thionocarbamate and dodecyl mercaptan are illustrative.

  • Patent number: 4584095
Abstract: An ore dressing method for recovering metal values by froth flotation and from their ores, in which flotation of the ore is conducted in the presence of a frothing agent mixture comprising a minor amount of a phosphorodithioic compound as a synergistic adjuvant and a frother which may be an aliphatic alcohol or ketone; a terpenic oil or alcohol or phenol; or a polyalkylene or polyoxyalkylene glycol or ether.

  • Patent number: 4530758
Abstract: The method of recovering copper from a copper-bearing ore which comprises froth flotation of the ore in alkaline circuit and in the presence of a phosphorodithio compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is hydrogen, alkali metal, or the ammonium radical and R is alkyl-substituted phenyl of from 6 to 14 carbon atoms having from 1 to 3 alkyl substituents and from 1 to 6 carbon atoms in each alkyl substituent. Sodium O,O-bis(isopropylphenyl) phosphorodithioate and O,O-bis(isopropylphenyl) phosphorodithoic acid are illustrative. The method is particularly useful with sulfide minerals, especially with copper sulfides and molybdenum sulfides.
