  • Publication number: 20080154796
Abstract: An automated auctioning system includes a customer, a web services register server (such as an Extended Markup Language (XML)-based registry server like an Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) registry) and a number of web service providers. Automated auctioning processes of a web service desired by the customer are undertaken between the potential customer and the web service providers. The potential customer issues a bid request, and each web service provider determines whether the value of a bid in response to the bid request is below a value warranted by market demand and issues the bid if the value is higher. The potential customer assesses the bid, creating a bid assessment score. The potential customer performs an iteration on the bid assessment score using a new bid request if the score has improved since a last iteration, while engaging the web service if the score has not improved.

  • Patent number: 7180523
Abstract: Trimming textures are obtained and applied to parametric surface. The trimming textures are stored as texture maps and are applied to provide a visual sensation of absence when rendering an image. The trimming texture may be obtained in a pre-rendering process and applied to the parametric surface in a run-time process using a 3D graphics accelerator.

  • Publication number: 20060288343
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to enable remote-user-interface-capable managed runtime environments are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving a request from a first device to execute an application at a second device, the first device being incapable of executing the application. The method further includes retrieving the application from an application library, executing the application on the second device in a managed runtime environment, transmitting at least a portion of the interface of the application from the second device to the first device, and presenting the interface of the application the first device.

  • Publication number: 20060072831
Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods for low latency remote display rendering using tile-based rendering systems are disclosed. In one implementation, a system includes a network interface and a content source coupled to the network interface. The content source being capable of rendering at least one tile of a tiled image, encoding the at least one tile, and providing the at least one encoded tile to the network interface before all tiles of the tiled image are rendered.

  • Publication number: 20040252129
Abstract: An apparatus and method of creating a variable depth display, comprising a display converter that reads data from a primary buffer corresponding to a pixel location, wherein the display converter reads data from either a marker buffer or a lookup table corresponding to the pixel location wherein a marker buffer value or lookup table value is obtained. The display converter then reads data from at least one secondary buffer corresponding to the pixel location if the marker buffer value or the lookup table value is a high resolution value, and calculates an output color for the pixel location. The display converter thus contains varying levels of color depth for each pixel read depending on whether the secondary buffers are utilized to calculate the color output for the pixel location.

  • Publication number: 20040220707
Abstract: A robotic device may utilize the processing power, memory/storage and user interface of a personal computer (“PC”) to improve its performance in embodiments of the present invention. Specifically, according to an embodiment, a robotic device may be coupled to a remote PC via a communications link (e.g., a wireless link) and harness the processing power in the remote PC to augment its own capabilities. The device may include various components that gather and transmit data to the PC via the communications link, and the PC may include an interface to accept the data and/or processing capabilities to process the data from the robotic device. Based on the processed data, the PC may determine an action for the device and send appropriate instructions to the device.

  • Patent number: 6603471
Abstract: Details are reduced in a three-dimensional (3D) model by performing a detail reduction process on the 3D model in plural positions and generating a master list of details to be removed from the 3D model based on results of the detail reduction process in each position. The master list contains weights associated with the details to be removed. The weights assign a relative importance to the details in the 3D model. The details are removed from the three-dimensional model in accordance with the weights.
