  • Publication number: 20120203185
Abstract: A cartridge having a distal end provided with a mechanical coding. The coding has the form of a circular protrusion where the circular outer diameter is dedicated a specific concentration of insulin contained in the cartridge. The distal end of the cartridge is fitted in to a circular contour in the housing. The outer diameter of the protrusion on the distal end of the cartridge is chosen as a larger diameter for a higher concentration of insulin. In this way only a cartridge containing the correct concentration or a lower concentration fits into a delivery system designed for a specific concentration of insulin.

  • Patent number: 6544238
Abstract: A needle assembly comprises an injection needle and a needle hub, mountable on a syringe, for securing the injection needle. The needle has an injection part extending axially from the hub and terminating in a skin piercing obliquely cut end. The length of the injection part is between 4 and 6 mm, thereby facilitating a proper subcutaneous injection. Also, preferably either (a) the outer diameter of the needle is smaller than 0.320 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.165 mm, or (b) the outer diameter is smaller than 0.298 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.133 mm. Also, preferably the hub includes an axially extending protrusion, from which the injection part extends, to facilitate insertion of the injection part into the skin of a user at an oblique angle.

  • Publication number: 20020095120
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic injection device, which automatically injects a pre-measured quantity of fluid medicine when a tension spring is released. The tension spring moves the ampoule and the injection needle from a storage position to a deployed position when it is released; the content of the ampoule is thereafter expelled by the tension spring forcing a piston forward inside the ampoule. After the fluid medicine has been injected, torsion stored in the tension spring is released and the injection needle is automatically retracted back to its original storage position.

  • Patent number: 5951530
Abstract: The present invention relates to a needle mounted in a needle hub fitting onto an injection device from which preset doses of a medicine from a cartridge accommodated in the device is administered through the needle comprises a back needle penetrating a closure membrane of the cartridge and a free injection part shorter than 9 mm, the outer diameter of the needle and the diameter of its bore complying with one of the conditions: a) the outer diameter is smaller than 0.320 mm and the diameter of the bore is larger than 0.165 mm, or b) the outer diameter is smaller than 0.298 mm and the diameter of the bore is larger than 0.133 mm.

  • Patent number: 5683361
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a dosage or a powdery or fluid drug from a cartridge having a tubular chamber the ends of which are sealed by breakable membranes. The dispenser comprises a housing forming a cylinder which is at one end closed by an end wall through which an outlet pipe communicates with the interior of the cylinder. The other end of the cylinder is closed by a plunger which may be displaced into the cylinder. The drug cartridge is placed in a piston mounted axially displaceable in the cylinder between the end wall and the plunger, and the tubular chamber extends from one side of the piston to the other. Penetrators for breaking the membranes are provided at the inner end of the outlet pipe and the inner end of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5553739
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispenser for tablets, comprising a drawer element having a through going opening for the accommodation of just one tablet, which drawer element may be displaced along a narrow sidewall of a box shaped housing. A partition parallel with said sidewall bars the inlet of the opening when the dispenser is operated, and an opening serves as a dispensing opening when the drawer is displaced to align its through-going opening with the dispensing opening. The ends of the drawer are closed by trough shaped shells, the shell at the one end being at its end opposite the drawer hinged to the housing, and being at its end adjacent to the drawer hinged to the drawer, and the end of the housing adjacent to the hinged shell being obliquely cut, so that the narrow side of the housing adjacent to the hinge hinging the shell to the housing is longer than the narrow sidewall forming the sliding surface for the drawer.

  • Patent number: 5331954
Abstract: A pen shaped device for nasal administration of doses of a liquid medicine, comprising a first and a second housing element, the first housing element (1) comprising a cartridge for the medicine, this cartridge being at one end closed by a piston (21) and being at its other end closed by a valve (7,9), which may be opened to connect the cartridge to a spray nozzle (12). When the two housing elements are rotated relatively to each other, a nut member (27) is proportional to the rotation moved along a threaded piston rod (22) to compress a helical spring (32) to act via the nut element (27) and the piston rod (22) on the piston (21) to put the content of the cartridge under pressure, which pressure may be released by opening the valve (7,9) to lead the medicine in the cartridge to the nozzle (12).
