  • Patent number: 9220645
Abstract: The present invention describes a novel absorbent core for the absorbent article in which the top surface of the core is embossed in a pattern that is made from curves rather than straight lines or polygons. In a preferred embodiment, the top surface is embossed with a pattern made by circles with spacing between consecutive circles. The novel article is not only less rigid and smoother on the body surface, but also exhibits better absorptive capacity. Various other embodiments are described and are within the scope of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20090076783
Abstract: A method of making a digitally optimized fastener assembly for a disposable absorbent article can have the following steps: creating a first FEA model having first structural design properties and/or first material design properties; analyzing the first FEA model to obtain first failure characteristics; modifying the first structural design properties and/or the first material design properties to create a second FEA model having second structural design properties and/or second material design properties; analyzing the second FEA model to obtain second failure characteristics thereof; comparing the first failure characteristics to the second failure characteristics to determine whether there is an improvement over the first failure characteristics; and wherein the third through fifth steps can be repeated until a FEA model is created which exhibits desirable failure characteristics. A digitally optimized fastener assembly generally be a fastener assembly made according to the aforesaid method.

  • Publication number: 20080255533
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article having an absorbent core and a fluid redistribution layer disposed on top of the absorbent core, wherein the fluid redistribution layer has a channel which redistributes fluid mainly along the absorbent core. The absorbent core can be disposed between a top sheet and a back sheet of the absorbent article, and the fluid redistribution layer can be disposed between the absorbent core and the top sheet, with the channel having one or more openings on the side next to the top sheet.

  • Publication number: 20040230184
Abstract: An absorbent article is provided that includes a fluid permeable top sheet and a transfer layer disposed adjacent the top sheet. A first layer is disposed adjacent the transfer layer. The first layer includes an absorbent composite having a first density. A second layer is disposed adjacent the first layer and includes an absorbent having a second density. The first density is greater than the second density such that a ratio of fluid retained by the first layer relative to fluid retained by the second layer is greater than 1.0. A fluid impermeable back sheet is disposed adjacent to the second layer. The ratio is desirably approximately 3.0. Alternatively, the absorbent article includes the first layer having an absorbent composite with a basis weight ranging from approximately 150 grams per square meter to 170 grams per square meter. The second layer includes an absorbent having a basis weight ranging from approximately 130 grams per square meter to 150 grams per square meter.
