  • Publication number: 20080119577
Abstract: Foamable compositions based on rigid organic polymers such as polyvinyl chloride contain as the plasticizer a blend of a) a liquid oligomeric ester of phthalic acid, at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or a mixture thereof; and b) a total of at least 15 weight percent, based on total plasticizer, of at least one ester of benzoic acid and/or an alkyl-substituted benzoic acid.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 25, 2008
    Publication date: May 22, 2008
    Applicant: VELSICOL CHEMICAL CORPORATION
Inventors: William Arendt, Makarand Joshi, Wesley McConnell, Kimberly Rausch, Bruce Streeter, Arron Strepka
  • Publication number: 20080058466
Abstract: Shaped articles, including but not limited to films, moldings and extruded profiles exhibiting a unique combination of desirable properties including high surface energy, permanence of the plasticizer, and processability are prepared from polymer compositions comprising a rigid organic polymer and a unique class of polyesters as plasticizers. The shaped articles are printable using both organic solvent- and water-based inks.

  • Publication number: 20050031850
Abstract: Superabsorbent polymer particles having a particle size of about 38 to about 300 ?m and a median particle size of about 180 ?m or less are disclosed. The superabsorbent polymer particles comprise at least one unneutralized acidic water-absorbing resin and at least one unneutralized basic water-absorbing resin. One embodiment is multicomponent superabsorbent particles wherein each particle contains at least one microdomain of the acidic resin in contact with, or in close proximity to, at least one microdomain of the basic resin. Mixed bed of multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles with particles of a second unneutralized water-ab-sorbing resin, and mixed bed of particles of an unneutral-ized acidic water-absorbing resin and an unneutralized basic water-absorbing resin, also are disclosed. Improved diaper cores containing the small particle size superabsorbent polymer particles also are disclosed.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: February 10, 2005
    Inventors: Michael Mitchell, Kimberly Rausch
  • Patent number: 6590137
Abstract: Multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles are disclosed. The multicomponent particles comprise at least one acidic water-absorbing resin and at least one basic water-absorbing resin. Each particle contains about 20% to about 40%, by weight, of the basic resin, based on the total weight of the acidic resin and basic resin present in the particle. Blends of multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles with particles of a second water-absorbing resin also are disclosed. Improved diaper cores containing particles of the multicomponent superabsorbent gel particles also are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 2000
Date of Patent: July 8, 2003
    Assignee: BASK Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Michael A. Mitchell, Thomas W. Beihoffer, Kimberly A. Rausch
