  • Publication number: 20080169970
Abstract: A Doppler shifted radar apparatus is disclosed for correct target identification with respect to surveillance of moving vehicles. More particularly, an improved system is disclosed that is fully programmable and configurable to a specific customer use such as a speed signal. One such configurable item is the output communications protocol. As an example, the customer can configure the speed limit, range, and/or direction of movement, standard or custom serial protocol and other unique features for a customer speed sign. Another feature is a real time clock to time stamp and store event data for future analysis. The apparatus also has a multi-voltage power supply for customer usage and versatility.

  • Publication number: 20030058158
Abstract: A radar device for measuring the surface velocity of water moving in a horizontal plane in which the radar device is positioned above or below the horizontal plane. The radar device includes a tilt sensor, or accelerometer, to measure the angle of tilt of the radar device with respect to a target point located at a distance from the radar device. The accelerometer generates a signal representing the tilt angle. A processor in the radar device calculates the cosine correction factor that is applied to the measured velocity of the target point. This results in an automatically corrected measured velocity being displayed on the radar device.

  • Patent number: 5400034
Abstract: A digital phase lock detector for determining the periods of an incoming signal for use in measuring rapidly and accurately the relative speed or velocity of vehicles according to the Doppler-radar principle includes a micro-controller based processor unit operated under a stored program to perform period determination. A bandpass filter is provided for generating a periodic signal which has a frequency which is varied in accordance with the velocity of the target vehicle in response to a difference Doppler signal. A comparator is responsive to the periodic signal for generating a rectangular pulse signal which is a digital representation of the periodic signal. The processor unit includes a microprocessor for determining the period of the pulse signal by integrating a number of consecutive cycles to produce a synthesized Doppler frequency signal having a frequency which is proportional to the velocity of the target vehicle.
