Abstract: An exfoliating device of the invention has a front body (12) on which a first cutter (14) is mounted, and a rear body (15) having a second cutter (16) thereon and mounted for rotation on the front body. A guide hole (13) into which a cable (11) is to be inserted is formed in the front body (12), and the cutter (14) is mounted in an inclined relationship with respect to the direction of an axis of the guide hole. The second cutter (16) is mounted in parallel to the direction of the axis of the guide hole. With the construction, when the front body (12) is rotated, spiral cutting of a cover layer is carried out by the first cutter (14) while linear cutting is carried out by the second cutter (16). With the advancement of the exfoliating device, a cover layer of a cable can be exfoliated readily.

Abstract: A chucking device of a workpiece to be ground in a grinding machine, including a rotatable housing, a pair of elastically biased weight bodies which are opposed in the housing so as to come away from and close to each other a pair of opposed clamp plates which are provided on the respective weight bodies for relative movement and which have openings defining a center insertion opening in which the workpiece is inserted, and an end plate which is secured to the housing for covering the housing. The clamp plates are capable of inclining in planes thereof. The workpiece is firmly held in and by the center insertion opening of the clamp plates at at least four points of the center insertion hole by the outward displacement of the weight bodies, due to the centrifugal force acting thereon when the chucking device rotates.

Abstract: A pressure-sensitive recording paper exhibiting excellent properties even under severe environmental conditions such as high temperature and high humidity or low temperature is offered, the pressure-sensitive recording paper comprising a paper sheet coated with microcapsules containing therein a solution of a color former in 1-isopropylphenyl-2-phenylethane as a solvent.

Abstract: There are provided a solvent for pressure-sensitive recording material, which comprises a mixture of 1-isopropylphenyl-2-phenylethane with diisopropylnaphthalene and/or partially hydrogenated terphenyl, and a pressure-sensitive recording material, a sheet of which is coated with microcapsules containing therein the solvent, showing a sufficient rate of color development and an acceptable color density under severe environmental conditions such as very cold conditions as well as hot and humid conditions.
