  • Publication number: 20030142110
Abstract: In order to stabilize a displayed color and to attenuate printing when measuring a color patch for preparing a color conversion profile, an accurate measurement is obtained by waiting for a certain time, repeating the measurement until measurements settle down or using a measurement obtained when the measurements of color patchs of different sizes all become equal. When preparing a matrix profile, which should be stored for higher accuracy, a &ggr; value or a TRC value is judged and a selected value is stored in the profile. Both a matrix profile and an LUT profile are prepared and a profile with higher accuracy is stored as an available one.

  • Publication number: 20030053001
Abstract: An apparatus for creating an ICC profile in a simple manner without using a specialized measuring instrument. A display control unit reads out a dot pattern image from a pattern image data holding unit and a grayscale pattern image containing a plurality of grayscale patches of gradually varying gray scale from a grayscale image data holding unit, and presents the thus readout images for display on a display device. A user selects the grayscale patch having brightness closest to the brightness of the dot pattern image by operating a selection unit. Based on the selection, a gamma coefficient value is calculated by a gamma coefficient value calculation unit, and based on this gamma coefficient value, a profile creation unit modifies the ICC profile held in a common information holding unit and thus creates a customized ICC profile.

  • Publication number: 20020067493
Abstract: A method for creating a color transformation table attaining accurate color transformation, by accurately obtaining a relationship between color signals in a simple way, without causing degradation of accuracy of the color transformation table and without much labor. The method comprises a dividing step of beforehand defining plural regions obtained by dividing the whole of a transformation target color space, and a color transformation table creating step of creating the color transformation table by using plural color transformation formulas corresponding to the respective color regions defined at the dividing step. The method is applied when a color transformation table correlating a color signal (for example, an RGB signal) outputted from a color input device such as an image scanner with a color signal (for example, an L*a*b* signal) in a color space differing from the color space of the color input device is created.

  • Patent number: 6373595
Abstract: In a virtual gamut-obtaining step, lightness, saturation, and/or hue angle of the second gamut is converted and an expanded virtual gamut including at least all of the lightness values of the first gamut is obtained. In a color data changing step, for color data which is not included in the virtual gamut in color data of the first gamut, lightness, saturation, and hue angle are changed, thereby obtaining third color data included in the virtual gamut. In a color data forming step, a conversion opposite to the conversion performed to the second gamut in the virtual gamut obtaining step is executed to the third color data, thereby forming second color data.

  • Patent number: 6304606
Abstract: When encoding the continuous image by dividing the respective frames into a plurality of blocks, the image in the block in the present frame is compared with a corresponding image in the block in the same position of the reference frame and the amount of the changes of the predetermined image element within respective blocks is calculated. Only when the amount of change exceeds the predetermined threshold value, the image data of respective blocks is coded. A plurality of threshold values can be adapted and appropriately changed by considering a spatially changing pattern of the amount of the change of the image from the reference frame or a refreshing operation.

  • Patent number: 6297826
Abstract: If all colors of a picture obtained by a first color picture device cannot be outputted from a second color picture device, a plurality of color data which are outside the gamut of the second color picture device and are inside the gamut of the first color picture device are converted so as to preserve correspondence regarding both the lightness value and the saturation value. Furthermore, if, since an equi-hue line has distortion, the tone of a color represented by color data is changed by conversion, the hue angle of the color data is rotated and converted. In picture data, color data for the color of paper or the color of a picture digitally generated have extreme values, and errors occur when the data are converted. In this case, data around the color data in a color conversion table are modified to obtain a desirable conversion result.

  • Patent number: 5914680
Abstract: A data encoding and decoding method and apparatus which performs a high-speed operation using the F-V encoding. Input data including a plurality of elementary data having a predetermined length is encoded by assigning a code to each elementary data. The code has a code length corresponding to a frequency of appearance of the corresponding elementary data so that the assigned code is packed into a data unit having a fixed data length. The code length of the code assigned to each elementary data is fixed to a predetermined length so that the data unit having the fixed data length is formable by a plurality of the predetermined lengths. Each elementary data is encoded into the code having the fixed code length. The code is packed so that the code is output when a total length of the packed codes becomes the fixed data length of the data unit.

  • Patent number: 5854597
Abstract: In a document managing apparatus for forming a compressed document file where a keyword retrieval is available, a first process operation and a second process operation are alternately executed. In the first process operation, when document data to be compressed is given, the respective characters are directly written into a compressed document file until an end control character string appears in this document data. In the second process operation, data obtained by coding the respective characters are written into the compressed document file until a start control character series appears in the document data. Also, in this document managing apparatus, a third process operation and a fourth process operation are alternately performed, when the compressed document file is restored. In the third process operation, the respective data (characters) are directly outputted until the end control character string appears in the data contained in the compressed document file.
