  • Patent number: 9007982
Abstract: A method to control cell selection and/or re-selection in a communication system comprising a plurality of cells with which terminal devices may communicate, the method including the steps of: determining that a terminal device is to start a session for a certain service, the service using a reception frequency; based on that determination, changing at least one cell selection and/or re-selection parameter in respect of the terminal device with the effect that a subsequent cell selection and/or re-selection performed by the device would favor cells that use the reception frequency used in the service session over other cells.

  • Publication number: 20070248025
Abstract: A method, computer program, and apparatus adaptively select a segmentation option for service data units based on a bandwidth allocation. In general terms, one of a first segmentation option or a second segmentation option is selected based on a bandwidth allocation that is selected from among several possible bandwidth allocation options. A service data unit is segmented according to the selected segmentation option and wirelessly transmitted. In an embodiment, the first segmentation option uses a predetermined length such as a fixed length that may be chosen to match an IP packet size, or a predetermined maximum length to which the size of segmented units are constrained, and segmentation occurs prior to packet scheduling. In an embodiment, the second segmentation option uses a dynamic length that changes per transmission time interval, and segmentation occurs after packet scheduling and after the size of the transport block is determined.

  • Publication number: 20070189332
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, computer program products and data structures are provided that enable effective in-band signaling and data structures for adaptive control and operation of segmentation. An exemplary method includes: determining, during an ongoing wireless communication, that a current communication scheme is to be changed to a new communication scheme including one of a new segmentation scheme or a new non-segmentation scheme; and sending a control protocol data unit (C-PDU) from a first device to a second device, wherein the C-PDU includes identification information identifying the new communication scheme and control information related to the new communication scheme.

  • Publication number: 20070177630
Abstract: A method includes receiving at least one transport block and determining from the at least one transport block a first data unit, wherein a portion but not all of the first, data unit includes a second data unit; determining information corresponding to acknowledgement status of the first data unit; determining, based at least on the information, whether a request should be performed requesting retransmission of the second data unit; and performing the request in response to a determination the request should be performed. Another method includes determining information corresponding to acknowledgement status of a previously transmitted data unit, wherein a portion but not all of the previously transmitted data unit includes a second data unit; determining, based at least on the information, whether retransmission of the second data unit should occur; and performing the retransmission of the second data unit in response to a determination the retransmission should be performed.

  • Publication number: 20070076667
Abstract: A series of logical channel identifiers LCIDs, each associated with one radio link service profile RLSP, is stored in a local memory. The local memory is accessed whenever a LCID is taken into use for identifying an active logical channel, and each RLSP includes a set of radio link service parameters at least one of which is a quality of service parameter. A first data packet bearing a LCID and establishing a flow is received over a wireless logical channel. The local memory is accessed to determine if an RLSP is associated with the LCID of the first data packet. For the case where an RLSP is not associated with the LCID in the local memory, the LCID is associated with a designated default RLSP, and the first data packet is processed using the designated default RLSP. Predetermined and custom RLSPs are also described, as are methods, devices, programs, an integrated circuits embodying the invention.

  • Publication number: 20050232271
Abstract: A method of communicating a service from a network entity to a user in a wireless communications network, the method including scheduling transmission of a sequence of logical units delivering the service in a first logical layer, including scheduling periods of interrupted transmission in which no units are transmitted. The method also includes converting the logical units to transmission units for transmission in a physical layer and inserting, into at least one of the logical units at the logical layer, an indicator of the start of a period of interrupted transmission. The method further includes, at the user, receiving transmission units over the physical layer, reassembling logical units therefrom, and detecting the start of the period of interrupted transmission based on the indicator.

  • Patent number: 6544384
Abstract: The strength properties of chemical cellulose pulp (particularly kraft pulp) are improved by substituting a cold impregnation soak for conventional impregnation procedures. After steaming, wood chips are soaked in an alkaline liquid at a temperature of about 80-110° C. (preferably 80-100° C., or 90-105° C.) for between one-half-72 hours (typically about 2-4 hours) at a pressure of about 0-15 bar (preferably about 1-5 bar), to dissolve at least about 8% of the wood (preferably about 10-20%) and at least about 15% of the lignin. The alkaline liquid used preferably contains sulfide (e.g. black liquor, green liquor, white liquor, or mixtures thereof), but almost any alkaline liquid having an alkali concentration of about 1.0 mole of NaOH/liter or less (typically about 0.75 m/l or less) is suitable. The wood chips are then raised to a cooking temperature of about 145-180° C. and cooked to produce the cellulose chemical pulp.
