  • Publication number: 20200031600
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for transporting a tail end (6) in a fiber web machine from one structural section to another in such a way that the apparatus comprises nozzles (8) for guiding the tail end (6) on the guide plate by means of an air flow (4). What is essential in the invention is that the blown air (2) is brought onto a guide plate (1) shaped into a curve in such a way that the air flow (4) of the blown air (2) guides the tail end (6) onto the curved guide plate (1) by means of a bump (3) functioning as an aerodynamic profile, i.e. a bulge guiding the air flow (4), formed in the curved guide plate (1). In addition, the invention relates to a use of a curved plate (1) for transporting a tail end (6) in a fiber web machine from one structural section to another.

  • Publication number: 20170022021
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for passing a web tail being threaded from one paper machine section to another by way of guiding the tail with the help of an air jet from a transfer plate. An essential feature of the invention is to employ a construction rising from the surface of the transfer plate to a height with the shape of a linear ramp or a droplet for guiding the web tail in its travel direction thereby minimizing the contact area between the web tail and the transfer plate.

  • Patent number: 9051685
Abstract: A method for reducing the water and energy consumption of a paper machine with the help of a vacuum system and optimization of web solids content. On the paper machine wire section, water is removed with the help of a hybrid vacuum system serving first the vacuum locations needing a lower vacuum level and then those requiring a higher vacuum level in such fashion that the hybrid vacuum system removes water on different sections of the paper machine at the vacuum levels rendering the individually maximized energy efficiency. Additionally the solids content on the wire section is optimized with the help of an unfelted and smooth press roll adapted above the wire suction roll.

  • Patent number: 8163135
Abstract: A paper machine doctor assembly includes a doctor blade and a blade holder holding the same and a support member mounted on the paper machine frame. An essential feature of the assembly is that a separate pivot mount is provided between the blade holder and the support member, the separate pivot mount enabling the blade holder and the pivot mount to be disconnected from the support member by pulling the pivot mount outwardly and away from the support member.

  • Publication number: 20110214829
Abstract: Method for compensating for uneven shrinkage in a paper web in the press and drying sections of a paper machine, in which there is at least one open draw. In the method, a flow guide/guides are used in the head box, by means of which the machine direction orientation tendency of the fibres is reduced in the edge areas of the web and the angle of detaching of the web from the centre roll is adjusted, by directing onto the web an air jet that is located in the cross direction and the pressure of which can be adjusted in the said direction.

  • Publication number: 20090242156
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for guiding a paper web, or corresponding web-like moving track, by using jets of compressed air as an aid. There are two jet directions, one essentially facing the arrival direction of the web (1) and the other essentially facing the departure direction of the web (1), in which case the jets form an area of vacuum between them. Compressed air is fed from one or more inlet ducts (3, 6).

  • Publication number: 20080163997
Abstract: A spring doctor, particularly for use for cleaning the surface of rolls (2), used in the and including a blade (8) that is essentially the width of the roll (2) being cleaned, and which is attached to a blade holder (1). In the device, there are operating means (for example, 6, 7) for creating the desired pressure of the doctor blade against the roll. Longitudinally, the blade (8) is curved for at least part of its length.

  • Patent number: 6491791
Abstract: A method is disclosed for cleaning roll surfaces on a paper-making machine or the like, particularly the grooves and drilled perforations of the rolls, and/or supported fabrics and/or for improving water drainage therein. According to the method, the properties of a moving roll surface (1) and/or fabric (6), as well as their behavior during a run, are affected by means of a gas mixture (5) in a manner, wherein the flow of the gas mixture is caused to be directed substantially toward the roll surface (1), grooves (2) made on the roll shell, perforations (2) of the roll shell and/or the fabric (6) or, alternatively, at least to a close proximity of at least one of the foregoing objects. The invention also relates to an apparatus suited for implementing the method.
