Publication number: 20200407185Abstract: In a reel-up for reeling of fiber webs, a web travelling in direction (S) is cut by two water jet nozzles moving in a transverse direction. Two cuts (C1, C2) are formed by the nozzles starting from the web edges moving to the web center where the cuts (C1, C2) cross or meet forming a V-shaped tail end (V1). After the cuts nozzle movement is stopped and after the return of the nozzles, cutting is restarted from the center toward the edges so the web W is cut by two cuts (C3, C4) forming a substantially V-shaped beginning end (V2) and between the cuts (C1, C2) for the tail end (V1) and the cuts (C3, C4) for the beginning end (V2) there is formed one web reject part (R) with two substantially V-shaped cuts. Cross-direction travel distance (L1, L2) of each nozzle is substantially shorter than the web width.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2020Publication date: December 31, 2020Applicant: Valmet Technologies OyInventors: Jaakko Haapanen, Kimmo Penttilä, Vesa Riihelä, Kai Forssen

Patent number: 10800628Abstract: In a turn-up method for a reel-up for reeling of fiber webs, a web travelling in direction (S) is cut by two water jet nozzles moving in a transverse direction in relation to the web travelling direction (S). Two cuts (C1, C2) are formed by two water jet nozzles starting from the edges of the web (W) and moving to the web center where the cuts (C1, C2) cross or meet forming a V-shaped tail end (V1). After the cuts the movement of the water jet nozzles is stopped and after the return movement of the water jet nozzles, cutting is started again from the center toward the edges so that the web W is cut by two cuts (C3, C4) and a substantially V-shaped beginning end (V2) to the web W is formed and between the cuts (C1, C2) for the tail end (V1) and the cuts (C3, C4) for the beginning end (V2) there is formed one web reject part (R) with two substantially V-shaped cuts.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2019Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: VALMET TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: Jaakko Haapanen, Kimmo Penttilä, Vesa Riihelä, Kai Forssen

Patent number: 8146397Abstract: A support arrangement (10) of a roll of a fibrous-web machine, has a first frame part (12) in which the roll (20) of the fibrous-web machine is supportable from its end when in use and a second frame part (22) in which the first frame part (12) is fastened by means of an elastic fastening. The arrangement has a motion direction control arrangement (34) for controlling the direction of the motion allowed by the elastic fastening in a way determined by the direction control arrangement (34).Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2008Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Kimmo Penttilä{umlaut over ( )}, Marko Jorkama, Heikki Föhr

Patent number: 7967236Abstract: An arrangement of attenuating the vibration in a roll assembly of a fiber web machine, in which assembly the roll (10) being rotatably suspended at its end on bearings in bearing housings (13a, 13b), and the bearing housings being supported on the frame or the foundation of the machine via viscoelastic intermediate piece or pieces (21a, 21b). The loss factor of the intermediate piece is greater than 0.1 at the normal operating conditions of the roll at a frequency range, which is ±10% calculated from the lowest bending eigenfrequency of the roll, and in the each end of the roll the spring constant of the total influence of the intermediate piece or pieces is in the range of 0.04 GN/m-1 GN/m.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2007Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Marko Jorkama, Kimmo Penttilä

Patent number: 6464835Abstract: The invention concerns an equipment and a method in a twin-wire former, in which a partly pre-drained or non-drained fiber stock is passed to between the forming wires of the web former in the vicinity of the former roll (11) or of a water drain box, in which connection water is drained out of the stock web by means of the former roll (11) or the water drain box. The twin-wire former comprises a rib (20) in connection with the former roll (11) or the water drain box in the lateral area of the wires (H2), which rib has been fitted to control the running of the second forming wire H2) passed from the gap roll. By means of the rib (20), in the lateral area of the wire runs, the point at which said forming wire (H2) reaches contact with the first forming wire in connection with the former roll (11) or the water drain box is shifted further away in the machine direction. The rib (20) is an oblong structure, which has a maximal height (Hmax) in the middle area of the rib (20).Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2001Date of Patent: October 15, 2002Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Kari Räisänen, Pasi Virtanen, Sakari Soini, Kimmo Penttilä, Kari J.
