Abstract: A method of displaying data on a display screen is provided wherein first and second display zones are provided on the display screen. The display zones are sized so that, in combination, they substantially occupy a predetermined display area of the display screen which may, for example, be the display screen of a handheld device. In one embodiment, the relative sizes of the display zones are dynamically set dependent upon content to be displayed in each display zone. For example, a display zone for displaying list content may be larger than a display zone for displaying form content. The display zones may be arranged in a lateral fashion wherein they have substantially similar heights, or arranged in a stacked fashion with substantially similar widths. The respective widths or heights, as the case may be, may be sized dependent upon the content for display in each zone.

Abstract: A disc storage container for holding multiple discs comprising, a front container cover, a back container cover, and a spine, and attachment means on the spine, the front container cover and back container cover being moveable between a container open position enabling access to the contents of the container and a container closed position for storage purposes. A multi-tray assembly for retaining a plurality of discs within the container, the multi-tray assembly comprising two connectors and two trays for retaining and holding discs, each connector comprising a container-engaging member for engaging to the attachment means on the spine of the container and two holding means for rotatably holding a respective tray, so that each tray can be rotated about the holding means of the connectors to allow access to the discs retained by the trays when the container is in a container open position.

Abstract: A media storage disk box for containing a media storage disk, or optical disc, includes a unitary plastic body having a first panel, a second panel, and a spine panel, the spine panel intermediate of the first panel and the second panel, the first panel and the second panel movable about the spine panel between an open position and a closed position; a first metal cover coupled to the first panel, the first metal cover including one or more securing tabs proximate to a spine edge of the first metal cover, the one or more securing tabs engaging the first panel; and a second metal cover coupled to the second panel, the second metal cover including one or more securing tabs proximate to a spine edge of the second metal cover, the one or more securing tabs engaging the second panel.

Abstract: A keeper case includes an elongate latch which in an unlocked position is restrained against longitudinal movement and has a surface for engagement by a mechanical key to deflect laterally to enable longitudinal displacement of the latch toward a locked position. An insert is located within the latch for magnetic interaction with an external unlocking device, and there is an aperture in the case through which a mechanical key can be inserted for engagement with the latch to cause movement thereof to its locked position.

Abstract: A case for storing a multiplicity of media discs, includes a cover, an internal binder attached to the cover or formed integrally with it and having a pair of laterally spaced tracks that have a certain height, and a number of substantially planar disk-mounting panels. Each disk-mounting panel has a pair of transverse extending slots, each interacting with one of the tracks in such manner as to open like the page of the book and move laterally toward and away from the binder. The disk case can store a large number of disk-mounting panels while conforming to standardised case width and height dimensions.

Abstract: A media storage disk box for containing a media storage disk, or optical disc, includes a unitary plastic body having a first panel, a second panel, and a hinge panel, the hinge panel intermediate of the first panel and the second panel, the first panel and the second panel movable, about the hinge panel, between an open position and a closed position; a first metal cover affixed to the first panel, the first metal cover having a perimeter rim and at least one perimeter wall section; and a second metal cover affixed to the second panel, the second metal cover having a perimeter rim and at least one perimeter wall section. According to one embodiment, the perimeter rim of the first metal cover is raised a predetermined distance above a central area of the first metal cover, and the perimeter rim of the second metal cover is raised a predetermined distance above a central area of the second metal cover.

Abstract: A media disc storage device has a plurality of disc trays for carrying a media disc. Each disc tray has a first side with a disc recess and a hub for locating the disc in the recess, a second side and parallel edges. The disc trays are successively hinged to one another at their parallel edges so as to fold in a concertina arrangement or to open out to be flat.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a case for receiving at least one data storage disk. The case is comprised of two cover members and a base. The case opens by sliding one or both cover members away from each other to allow removal of the disk from the base. The present improved DVD or CD case has very few components which are characterized by great simplicity whereby low manufacturing and assembly cost is achieved, without sacrificing reliability and resistance to breakage or malfunctioning. The case can be accommodated in existing racks, or holders and displays.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system that produces a characterization target for an existing input/output device using fixed control values and dynamically created control values. The fixed control values are chosen from the existing device color space and provide a sample of the gamut of the device. Important colors are dynamically chosen from a number of different sources including user selections, device target measurements and visual neutrals, and dynamically converted into corresponding colorimetric values. An existing characterization associated with the existing device is used to dynamically convert the colorimetric values into the dynamic control values. The fixed and dynamic control values are used to generate the target. The color patches of the target can be arranged to reduce errors in target reproduction and to allow visual confirmation of the target. The target can then be output, measured and used to characterize the device.

Abstract: A media disc has a label face, a media retrieval face and a central aperture extending between the faces. A flexible wrapping covers both of the faces and extends through the aperture to seal the media disc. The flexible wrapping is typically a shrink-wrap. A beverage cup lid has a central boss passing through the central aperture of the media disc to retain the media disc.

Abstract: An echo cancelling system for communication systems. The system includes an adaptive filter that processes the speech signal re-constructed by a voice decoder to generate an echo estimate. The echo estimate is subtracted from the echo containing signal propagating in the communication link to remove or at least reduce the echo corruption. The tap coefficients of the adaptive filter are established on the basis of an error signal that is representative of difference between the echo estimate and the actual echo and on the basis of a signal element that is a component of the re-constructed speech signal. The signal element is highly decorrelated to enable the adaptive filter to converge faster and manifest an improved echo return loss enhancement.

Abstract: The apparatus and method of the present invention quickly determines the presence of contours in a digital color image by determining the busy and the non-busy (smooth) regions of the original digital color image and determining the luminance variations in the smooth regions of the original digital color image and in a quantized version of the original digital color image. The difference between the luminance variations is compared against a selected threshold value, which if exceeded causes a mark to be associated with the pixel under consideration. For each pixel of the quantized digital color image that is associated with the mark or has a mark associated with a neighboring pixel in a window around the pixel of interest the color of the pixel is selected to minimize and or remove the contour.
