    Abstract: A mat base plate for use with a shrinkable mat is shown including an upstanding rim extending around a floor of the mat base plate. The rim has a plateau surface at the top thereof, an outer wall and a slope extending from said plateau, continuously to the bottom of the mat-receiving basin that is constituted by the rim and floor of the mat base plate. In the fourth embodiment, the rim is semi-cylindrical or at least convexly arcuate in cross-sectional shape, and has a rough surface having the appearance of a plurality of wave-like convexes and concaves.

    Abstract: Mat-base assembly comprises a base including a sheet integrally formed of an elastomeric polymer, a picture frame-like projection formed on the periphery of the sheet and a mat-containing portion formed on the inner side of the peripheral projection, a dust-controlling mat contained in the mat-containing portion and a temporary anchoring mechanism for anchoring detachably the base and mat at a plurality of points on the peripheral edge of the sheet, wherein an anchoring element comprising engaging pieces implanted on a base fabric is fixed to the base, a fiber loop element engageable with the engaging pieces is sewn to the mat and the peripheral portion of the anchoring element is fusion-bonded to the base sheet while in the remaining portion of the anchoring element, the engaging pieces are left as they are.
