Patent number: 4014164Abstract: An electronic timepiece including a battery monitoring arrangement wherein the irregular movement of the second hand is utilized to monitor the effective voltage of a battery utilized to energize same is provided. The timepiece includes oscillator circuitry producing a high frequency time standard signal and divider circuitry including a plurality of divider stages adapted to produce low frequency signals in response to the high frequency signal, and batteries coupled to the oscillator circuitry and divider circuitry for energizing same. A step motor includes a rotor adapted to be rotated in response to each driving pulse applied thereto. The display includes a second hand rotated in response to each rotation of the rotor. The battery monitoring circuit is characterized by a voltage detection circuit coupled to the battery for detecting the effective voltage thereof, and producing a signal in response to a drop in the effective voltage below a predetermined level.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1975Date of Patent: March 29, 1977Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Kinji Fujita

Patent number: 4004407Abstract: A digital display electronic timepiece having circuitry for adjusting the division ratio of the divider circuit and a digital display displaying the amount that division ratio is adjusted. The electronic timepiece includes a quartz crystal oscillator circuit for producing a high frequency time standard signal, a divider circuit including a plurality of series connected divider stages adapted to produce a low frequency time standard signal in response to said high frequency time standard signal, certain of said divider stages producing timekeeping signals representative of actual time in response to said low frequency time standard signal, and a division ratio adjustment circuit adapted to effect an adjustment of the low frequency signal in response to said high frequency signal. The adjustment circuit produces an adjustment setting signal indicative of the division ratio adjustment.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1974Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Kinji Fujita

Patent number: 3942318Abstract: A digital indication electronic wristwatch having a liquid crystal display panel driven by the output of a standard oscillator through frequency divider circuitry. Time regulation is provided by means of a first switch for resetting the entire frequency dividing circuit and a second switch for individually resetting that portion of the frequency divider circuit whose output corresponds to a 1-second or 1-minute signal. If desired, further switches may be provided for individually resetting those portions of the frequency divider circuit whose output corresponds respectively to the 10-second, 10-minute or 1-hour signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1974Date of Patent: March 9, 1976Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Kinji Fujita

Patent number: RE29727Abstract: In an improved digital display device relying on the phenomenon of dispersion of incident light by nematic crystals across which an electric field is imposed, an arrangement of transparent conductive segments in groups on opposing parallel plates makes it possible to reduce the number of leads necessary for displaying any digit from zero to nine from the conventional eight leads to six leads. The impressed voltage necessary for causing the nematic liquid crystals to disperse light is applied in pulses to different segments in each group in succession, the pulses being supplied at a sufficiently high frequency so that each pulsed segment appears to be continuously actuated.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1975Date of Patent: August 8, 1978Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Kinji Fujita
