  • Publication number: 20080292961
Abstract: The present invention provides a lithium-ion secondary battery which can suppress internal resistance to a small value. The lithium-ion secondary battery includes a winding group obtained by winding a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate via a separator. An end portion of a positive electrode mixture non-application portion 1 projects at an upper portion of the winding group, while an end portion of a negative electrode mixture non-application portion projects at a lower portion of the winding group. Current collecting disks 7 are disposed on both end faces of the winding group so as to face them, respectively, and materials for the current colleting disks are the same materials as those for a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode current collector.

  • Publication number: 20080206116
Abstract: The present invention is relates to a method for alternately laminating each first metal sheet and each second metal sheet in three or more layers, wherein a melting point of the second metal sheet is higher than that of the first metal sheet, and welding them together by friction stir welding. Furthermore, under a state where those three or more metal sheets are so laminated that an edge of the first metal sheet protrude outward compared to an edge of the second metal sheet, the friction stir welding is executed by pressing a welding tool against only the edge of the first metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 7416769
Abstract: This invention provides a configuration of a joint that allows a satisfactory welded joint to be formed with reduced deformation of the joint region when two-face structures (panels) are friction-welded end to end. The panels 31, 32 each have two substantially parallel plates 33, 34 and a third member 35 connecting the two plates 33, 34. The end portions of the plates 33, 34 of one panel 32 are friction-welded to the end portions of the plates 33, 34 of the other panel 32. At least one of the panels has a plate 36 at its end for connecting the plates 33 and 34 and has a rigidity to support a pressing force produced during the friction welding.

  • Publication number: 20080182166
Abstract: In a secondary battery, for providing a structure which can enable a welding operation even when a gap is formed between a current collecting plate and a winding assembly, recessed portions are formed in a positive current collecting plate. The recessed portions are disposed opposite to the winding assembly. A laser beam is irradiated to welding protrusions located between the recessed portions to melt the welding protrusions. Here, since the end surface of a positive electrode foil is uneven in height, the positive electrode foil does not contact the positive current collecting plate necessarily. The welding operation is performed by heating, melting, and dropping the welding protrusions by the use of a YAG laser under the welding condition of a laser power of 900 W and a welding speed 2 m/min.

  • Publication number: 20080131765
Abstract: In a battery pack in which multiple battery cells are arranged in one or multiple rows in an electrically insulating case and an electrode of each battery cell is coupled to an electrode of another battery cell through a connecting metallic plate, the connecting metallic plate made of copper is disposed on a positive electrode of each battery cell and on a negative electrode of another battery cell to form a lap joint, and a weld is formed in each of one predetermined position on the connecting metallic plate 3 above the positive electrode and another predetermined position on the connecting metallic plate above the negative electrode by applying arc spot welding. The depth h of weld penetration in the weld is greater than the thickness T1 of the connecting metallic plate and smaller than the thickness T1 plus the thickness T2 of the positive electrode or the negative electrode, that is, T1<h?(T1+T2×4/5).

  • Publication number: 20070181637
Abstract: A problem of FSW spot-welding is that a bonding strength tends to be low, since an area of metallic bonding is limited to the neighborhood of a pin portion of the welding tool. In order to solve the problem, after a tool (1) is inserted into a member (4) to be welded, a rotation shaft of the welding tool is tilted around a predetermined point (13) as a fulcrum, and the tip portion of the welding tool (1) is swung to enlarge a plastic flow area caused by rotation of the tool. As a result, the welding strength can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20070181646
Abstract: The present invention provides a friction stir welding method in which a plurality of members are lapped and a welding tool is pressed into one of the members, while being rotated, to cause friction stir to weld the members. A small diameter projected part is disposed at a tip end of a shoulder of the welding tool, and is positioned out of a rotating axis of the welding tool. Especially, the method is suitable for spot welding and removes a surface oxidation film on a lapped welding interface to weld two members.

  • Patent number: 7097091
Abstract: Disclosed is a friction stir welding method for welding two members to be welded which differ in physical properties and/or mechanical properties by abutting the two members to each other, inserting a pin portion of a rotary tool having the pin portion and a shoulder portion to the abutment surfaces of the two members, and moving the rotary tool along the abutment surfaces. The pin portion is inserted to only one of the members, the pin portion is not inserted to the other of the members but only the shoulder portion is set in contact with the other of the members, and, while this condition is maintained, the rotary tool is moved. With this method, only the member on the side where the pin is inserted can be made to undergo plastic flow attendant on a friction stir action. The metal in plastic flow is pressed against the opposite member at an elevated temperature and high pressure, whereby diffusion of atoms is caused in the vicinity of the abutment surfaces, and the members are welded.
