  • Patent number: 11146501
Abstract: A first user communication request by a first user is detected. The first user communication request is directed to a computer response system. In response to detecting the first user communication request a profile associated with the first user is determined. A first set of computing resources of the computer response system is allocated to a first automated respondent. The allocation is based on the determined profile. A communication between the first user and the first automated responded is assigned based on the determined profile.

  • Patent number: 10061801
Abstract: In an approach for manipulating columns in a projection list in a database result set, a processor receives a database request having a projection operation for a plurality of columns in one or more tables, wherein the projection operation comprises a SELECT statement having a column list that includes having (a) a shorthand that specifies the plurality of columns and (b) a column sequence clause that specifies a column name from the plurality of columns and a resulting column position. A processor retrieves data records having the plurality of columns including the specified column name and the resulting column position. A processor generates a result set comprised of the data records having the plurality of columns, such that for the result set, values within the specified column name are inserted into the result set at the resulting column position.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8015217
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to data retrieval, and more particularly but not exclusively to obtaining referentially converted user data having user-defined data types. In one implementation, the present invention is a method for retrieving user data in a data system using one or more application programs for defining a layout for each user data type, defining one or more conversion routines for non-standard data types, calling a coordination call to map standard and non-standard data types, and retrieve the user data from the data storage device.

Date of Patent: September 6, 2011
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation

  • Patent number: 7020648
Abstract: A system for identifying and utilizing a secondary index to access a database using a management system without an internal catalogue of online metadata. The system receives an application request to access a database from the application program, and parses the application request to determine at least one column name and at least one table name. The system utilizes an online catalogue containing metadata to translate the column name to a field name and the table name to a segment name, wherein the segment name has an associated secondary index. The system utilizes the online catalogue to determine an associated secondary index name, and builds a database request that includes the segment name, the field name, and the associated secondary index name. The system then sends the database request to the database management system, so that the associated secondary index can be used by the database management system in response to the database request.
