Abstract: The embodiments herein disclose a unified method of managing multimedia content in an enterprise using a system that is responsible for streaming, efficient storage, archival, analytics, authentication, creating, editing, sharing, broadcast, and encoding of the content. A unified multimedia appliance is provided within an enterprise cloud, and can provide a single interface for all users across multiple locations within an enterprise. The unified multimedia appliance provides a single appliance or software solution for managing multimedia needs of an enterprise. The appliance provides the convenience of a public cloud based service, but with enhanced security and control over the media content being used and distributed within the enterprise. This appliance could be hosted either inside the enterprise datacenter (private cloud) or could be hosted in the public cloud.

A packet daemon executing on the remote management module packetizes data received from a client and forwards it to a packet daemon executing on a computer, which receives the packet and forwards data contained therein to the program. Data from the program is packetized by the packet daemon executing on the computer and transmitted to the packet daemon executing on the remote management module, which forwards the data to a program specific daemon on the remote management module for forwarding to the client.

Abstract: A system, method, and software product provides for managing resources in a virtual machine. The system comprises a guest memory and a processor. The guest memory stores a file exception table and a file inclusion table. The file exception table indicates at least one first name of a host resource. The file exclusion table indicates at least one second name of a guest resource. The processor receives a resource query, processes the resource query to determine a host weight value using a weighting operation and the file exception table. The processor also processes the resource query to determine a guest weight value using the weighting operation and the file inclusion table. Additionally, the processor compares the host weight value to the guest weight value to determine whether the resource query is associated with the host resource or the guest resource.

Abstract: A method of modifying the software configuration of a storage system includes receiving a download package at the storage system via a network connection. The download package is for use in performing a software installation process in the storage system and includes an archive of files and a metadata entity appended to the archive. The metadata entity includes a first set of metadata. The method further includes using the first set of metadata in the storage system to perform a set of preliminary checks for the software installation process.

Abstract: A loopback test of the datalink layer of a network interface device is performed from a user-space software layer. In certain embodiments, network address translation rules in the network layer are modified to change source and destination network addresses of a test packet to a fake IP address, to enable the test packet to be forwarded from the network layer to the datalink layer.
