  • Patent number: 10785483
Abstract: In an example, an electronic device of a decoder is configured to obtain a bit stream and recover a binary symbol from the obtained bit stream. The electronic device is configured to determine whether the binary symbol is to be decoded using a modified transform skip mode. The electronic device is configured to, in response to determining that the binary symbol is not to be decoded using the modified transform skip mode, determine a first TS_Shift value, and recover video data using the first TS_Shift value. The electronic device is configured to, in response to determining that the binary symbol is to be decoded using the modified transform skip mode, determine a second TS_Shift value, and recover video data using the second TS_Shift value.

  • Publication number: 20200296379
Abstract: A video bitstream is decoded by decoding, in a slice header associated with a picture, a first syntax element with an integer value indicating a number of a plurality of entropy slices defining a first slice, wherein each of the entropy slices contains a plurality of largest coding units (LCUs), a second syntax element indicating an offset with an index, and a third syntax element indicating a slice type of the first slice. When the third syntax element indicates the slice type of the first slice is a B slice, a flag in the slice header indicating an initialization method of a Context-Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) context is decoded. When the third syntax element indicates the slice type of the first slice is a P slice, the CABAC context is initialized using one of the first initialization method and the second initialization method at the first LCU of each of the plurality of entropy slices in the P slice.

  • Publication number: 20200260088
Abstract: A method for decoding video includes receiving quantized coefficients representative of a block of video representative of a plurality of pixels. The quantized coefficients are dequantized based upon a function of a remainder. The dequantized coefficients are inverse transformed to determine a decoded residue.

  • Publication number: 20200162740
Abstract: Technique for initialization of encoders and decoders. In some cases, the decoder receives a slice and identifies if the slice is either a forward predicted B-slice or a backward predicted B-slice, and not both a forward and backward predicted B-slice, and based upon this identification initializes, using a P-slice technique, a context associated with the slice.

Abstract: A video bitstream is decoded by decoding, in a slice header associated with a picture, a first syntax element indicating a number of entropy slices defining a first slice. Each slice contains plural largest coding units (LCUs). A second syntax element indicates an offset with an index, and a third syntax element indicates a slice type of the first slice. When the third syntax element indicates a B slice, a flag indicating one of two coding context initialization methods to be used is decoded. When the third syntax element indicates a P slice, the coding context is initialized using one of two initialization methods. When the third syntax element indicates an I slice, the coding context is initialized using a third initialization method.

  • Patent number: 10284862
Abstract: This invention introduces modification to a syntax signaled in slice segment header related to inter-layer prediction. A syntax optimization is proposed where if syntax element NumActiveRefLayerPics is equal to syntax element NumDirectRefLayers[nuh_layer_id] then the inter_layer_pred_idc[i] syntax elements are not signaled. In this case the value of inter_layer_pred_idc[i] syntax elements is inferred based on other syntax elements already signaled.
