  • Publication number: 20240105302
Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a method comprising: receiving (402), from a sensor, first data indicative of a concentration of a first substance in sweat secreted from sweat glands of a subject; determining (404) a relationship between (i) a time of occurrence of a characteristic event in relation to the concentration of the first substance in sweat and (ii) a time of occurrence of the characteristic event in relation to the concentration of the first substance in blood; and determining (406), based on the relationship and the received first data, a time window regarding the intake of a second substance by the subject. Another aspect provides an apparatus for carrying out this method.

  • Publication number: 20240099648
Abstract: Provided is a system (300) for determining a sweat rate per gland and measuring biomarker concentration. The system comprises an apparatus and a sensor (166). The apparatus receives sweat from the skin and transports the sweat as discrete sweat droplets to the sensor. The sensor senses each of the counted sweat droplets. The system further comprises a processor which counts the number of sensed sweat droplets during a time period. The processor also determines time intervals between consecutive sensed sweat droplets, and receives a measure of the volume of each of the counted sweat droplets. The time intervals and the measure of the volume are then used by the processor to identify sweat burst and rest periods of the sweat gland or glands producing the sweat. This identification process necessarily involves assigning the sweat burst and rest periods to the sweat gland or glands, such that the processor is permitted to determine the number of sweat glands involved in producing the sweat.

  • Publication number: 20240099647
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus (100) for transporting sweat droplets (112) to a sensor. The apparatus comprises a chamber (102) for filling with sweat. The chamber has an inlet (104) lying adjacent the surface of the skin (106), which inlet permits sweat to enter and fill the chamber. The chamber has an outlet (114) from which a sweat droplet protrudes once the chamber has been filled. The apparatus further comprises a fluid transport assembly which is designed to enable the sweat droplet protruding from the outlet to become detached from the outlet of the chamber. The sweat droplet is subsequently transported by the fluid transport assembly to the sensor. Once the protruding droplet has been released from the outlet, the outlet is made available for a subsequent sweat droplet to protrude therefrom upon further filling of the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20240090837
Abstract: A wearable patch system comprises a sensor (14) for measuring at least one sweat parameter, and a controller (16) for indicating the need to replace the patch. The controller is configured to receive the at least one sweat parameter and compare the at least one sweat parameter to a first threshold. The controller is also configured to determine the replacement information based on the total amount of time during which the at least one sweat parameter exceeds the first threshold; and/or a value indicative of the at least one sweat parameter in respect of the total amount of time during which the at least one sweat parameter exceeds the first threshold. The controller is further configured to output an indication that the wearable patch needs (12) replacing based on the replacement information.

  • Publication number: 20240067104
Abstract: A mobile device mounting system includes a device case and a mount. The device case includes: an insert including a rectangular bore and defining a set of undercut sections about the rectangular bore; and a first set of magnetic elements arranged in a first pattern about the rectangular bore. The mount includes: a body; a polygonal boss extending from the body and configured to insert into the rectangular bore; a set of locking jaws arranged on the polygonal boss configured to transiently mate with the set of undercut sections to constrain the polygonal boss within the rectangular bore; and a second set of magnetic elements arranged in a second pattern about the polygonal boss and configured to transiently couple to the first set of magnetic elements to transiently retain the mount against the device case and to drive the set of locking jaws toward the set of undercut sections.

  • Patent number: 10108971
Abstract: The disclosed technology provides systems, architectures, and methods for providing to a Web page electronic advertisements related to the content of the Web page. In one aspect, the disclosed technology manages and serves electronic advertisements for affiliated Web page publishers and advertisers. A computer-implemented method in accordance with the disclosed technology receives a request for an electronic advertisement for a Web page, wherein the Web page is associated with a Web page publisher, accesses one or more keywords appearing in the Web page, identifies one or more relevant electronic advertisements related to the keyword(s), wherein the relevant electronic advertisement(s) are associated with an advertiser affiliated with the Web page publisher, and communicates one or more the relevant electronic advertisements to the Web page for display. The disclosed technology also includes a computer executing software, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform the steps above.

  • Patent number: 9905106
Abstract: Ergonomics awareness chairs, systems, and methods are disclosed. Methods include reading sensor values from sensors in an ergonomics awareness chair, calculating a posture type based on the sensor values, determining a time the user has been continuously sitting properly, and, if the time is greater than a predetermined threshold time, alerting the user to take a break. Systems include a user-interface computer and an ergonomics awareness chair with a controller. The ergonomics awareness chair includes a shoulder sensor, a lumbar sensor, a buttocks sensor, a thigh sensor, and an armrest sensor in each of the armrests. The controller is configured to acquire sensor values from the sensors. The user-interface computer is programmed to determine at least two types of postures based on the sensor values. The types of postures may include sitting properly and sitting improperly (e.g., slouching, hunching, straining shoulders, leaning, sitting on edge, and crossing legs).
