More particularly, it concerns the use as perfuming ingredients of a 2,4-dialkyl-pyridine of formula (I): in the form of any one of its stereoisomers or a mixture thereof, wherein R1 represents a C1-3 alkyl group; R2 represents a C4-9 linear alkyl group; and the compound has between 10 and 15 carbon atoms. These compounds are useful for imparting odors of the green and/or pyrazine type. The present invention concerns the use of such compounds in the perfumery industry as well as the compositions or articles containing them.

The newly made compounds are shown to be useful as components of ferroelectric liquid crystal mixtures which exhibit high speed, multistate electro-optic switching properties making them ideally suited to certain electro-optic display device applications.
