An example localized thermal protection device for use with a medical device may include a cylindrical body including a first layer and a second layer. The first layer may include a first substrate and a first phase change material disposed along the first substrate. The second layer may include a second substrate and a second phase change material disposed within the second substrate. The cylindrical body may be configured to be disposed about a discrete temperature-sensitive region of a medical device.
