Patent number: 11994343Abstract: Provided is a multi-part lyophilization container for lyophilizing a fluid, storing the lyophilizate, reconstituting the lyophilizate, and infusing the reconstituted lyophilizate into a patient, including a method of using same. The container includes a front surface, a back surface, a non-breathable section including a port region, a breathable section including a breathable membrane, and a peelable region including a peelable seal encompassing a boundary between the non-breathable section and the breathable section. The method includes inputting a fluid into a non-breathable section of the container, freezing the fluid, applying, in a lyophilization chamber, vacuum pressure, opening the peelable seal using a pressure differential, applying heat energy, sublimating the fluid and creating a temporary occlusion in a peelable region of the container.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2023Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: Terumo BCT Biotechnologies, LLCInventors: Kestas P. Patent number: 5913819Abstract: The present invention is directed to an oximeter sensor to measure the oxygen content of a patient's blood. The sensor can include a lead frame having different thicknesses, a sensor housing being molded from a common thermoplastic resin, and rib members in the housing for inhibiting shorting between adjacent traces of the lead frame. The present invention further includes a process for forming the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1997Date of Patent: June 22, 1999Assignee: Datex-Ohmeda, Inc.Inventors: James H. Taylor, Daniel A. Estoque, Kirk L. Weimer

Patent number: 5744774Abstract: A single multifunction fixture secures an electronic device in a predetermined position and provides guide slots for the worker to place the individual conductors of a multiconductor cable in place such that each conductor aligns with a corresponding contact on the device when both the cable and the device are secured in the fixture. The fixture includes a movable head that can be brought into contact with the conductors once they are positioned over the corresponding electrical contacts to form electrically conductive paths through the head, electrical conductor, device contact and fixture for each of the cable conductors. The electrically conductive paths through the fixture form high current carrying capacity paths which, when sufficient current is passed therethrough, function to weld the cable conductors to their corresponding electrical contact on the device.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: Ohmeda Inc.Inventors: Jack Levinson, Kirk L. Weimer, Todd G. Wieseler

Patent number: 5638593Abstract: A method for manufacturing a heat-sealed neo-natal medical monitoring probe requires a pair of light sources and a light detector to be placed between two layers or conformable material used to implement the probe. The layers are designed to be self-aligning when placed in the assembly press for heat-sealing the perimeter of the probe. The heat-sealing process both protects the light sources and detector from fluids and also functions to precisely position and secure these devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1995Date of Patent: June 17, 1997Assignee: Ohmeda Inc.Inventors: Thomas J. Gerhardt, Daniel Goldberger, Dena M. Raley, James H. Taylor, Timothy A. Turley, Kirk L. Weimer

Patent number: 5387122Abstract: The pulse oximeter probe uses an inexpensive connector to electrically interconnect the sensor elements with the pulse oximeter. One segment of the probe connector contains a set of connector pins that are wired to the sensor elements. Another segment of the probe connector is equipped with a mating configuration of sockets which align with these pins. Three projections function to automatically align the connector pins with the connector sockets. Two of the projections engage a mating aperture in the other connector segment to fasten the two connector segments together, while a third projection aligns with an edge of the other connector segment to position the two connector segments.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1993Date of Patent: February 7, 1995Assignee: Ohmeda Inc.Inventors: Daniel S. Goldberger, Timothy A. Turley, Kirk L. Weimer
