  • Publication number: 20240075324
Abstract: A lanyard connection device combines, in a singular piece of hardware, a movable gate for opening and closing a load-receiving eye of the device, a lock for holding the gate closed, a user-actuated quick release operably associated with the lock, and a length adjuster configured for engagement with a lanyard at an intermediate location between anchoring and tail ends thereof. The adjuster is manipulatable between a holding state preventing displacement between the device and lanyard, and an adjustment state releasing the hold to enable user-adjustment of the lanyard's working length. To prevent inadvertent opening of the eye, the quick release comprises multiple actuators that require simultaneous actuation thereof to release the lock from the locking position. The adjuster features a slidable bollard that receives wrapped engagement of the lanyard and, in the holding state, clamps the wrapped segment thereof against a neighboring clamping surface.

  • Patent number: 11905148
Abstract: A snatch block has a stationary first cheek and a movable second cheek that is slidable in its respective plane relative to the stationary first cheek. In a closed position, the second cheek connects with a crown jutting from the first cheek, thereby closing off a swallow of the snatch block. In an open position, an access gap opens into the swallow between the movable second cheek and the crown, thus enabling loading of a rope into the swallow. A locking mechanism with slide latches or rocker arms normally locks the second cheek in the closed position, and requires simultaneous actuation of two discretely separate releases to unlock the second cheek. The second cheek is biased into the open position, providing overt visual indication of any failed latching attempt. A seamlessly integral stud protrudes from the crown to rotatably support a swivel eye thereon.

  • Publication number: 20220023673
Abstract: A self-locking descent control device features a clamp body, a handle lever pivotably coupled to the clamp body near a proximal end of the lever, an attachment point carried on the clamp body for connection to body-worn equipment of a user, a friction arrangement on the clamp body at a location across the elongated lever from the attachment point, and featuring a first set of rope passages. A second set of rope passages are laid out in series on the lever, and a clamping surface on the clamping body is positioned adjacent the proximal end of the lever on the same side thereof as the attachment point. The rope is routed on a serpentine path through the first and second sets of rope passages, and onward through a space between the proximal end of the lever and the clamping surface, whereby the user's body weight automatically clamps the rope therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20090039663
Abstract: A rope anchor is provided having a main body and a blade connected to the main body at a first axle. A latch is connected to the main body at a second axle. The latch is adapted to secure the blade in an open position and in a closed position. The rope anchor further includes a means for securing a rope. When the blade is in the closed position, an enclosed gap is located between the blade and the main body.

  • Patent number: 7419138
Abstract: A pulley is provided having a first plate and a second plate arranged adjacent to the first plate and connected to the first plate by an axle. An eccentrically mounted sheave is located between the first plate and the second plate and is adapted to freewheel in one direction only. The eccentrically mounted sheave is mounted eccentrically with respect to the axle. A fixed block is mounted between the first plate and the second plate and is adapted to fixedly lock a line between the fixed block and the eccentrically mounted sheave.
