    Abstract: A modular flooring surface freely supported on the upper surface of a flat floor. The modular flooring surface is made up of shaped tiles which snap together to form a playing surface for sports such as roller hockey, tennis, basketball and the like. The tiles of the flooring surface are preferably not rectangular in shape and thus, the resulting playing surface has no long straight seams. The flooring surface preferably has a pattern formed so that it is not completely smooth but instead has small ridges extending upwardly from a base. A preferred shape of modular tile of the playing surface is hexagonal.
