  • Patent number: 5782444
Abstract: The present invention comprises a dish-shaped cabinet skate made of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, which is applied to furniture feet. The skate is adapted to be affixed in a permanent or semi-permanent manner on standard office furniture feet. The skate has an inherently low coefficient of friction with respect to conventional carpeting, thus allowing easy sliding. The skate is shaped to include large radius bends at the edges and a slight crowning of the bottom surface to further reduce resistance to sliding.

  • Patent number: 5447386
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for joining two furniture panels to prevent relative vertical movement there between. In a first embodiment for joining two furniture panels disposed at right angles, the invention comprises two forks. The primary fork comprises an elongated base having three coplanar equally-spaced tines arranged along the length of the base and extending from the base in a direction perpendicular to the length of the base. The primary fork also includes three coplanar equally-spaced slots extending through the base in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the tines. The second, or locking, fork comprises an elongated flat planar body having two faces and three flat elongated coplanar equally-spaced tines arranged thereon. The tines are arranged along the length of the body and protrude from one edge of one face of the body, to extend in a direction perpendicular to the length of the body.

  • Patent number: 5385335
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for lifting modular furniture. The apparatus comprises a central shaft and housing slidably mounted on the shaft. Either the housing or the shaft is supported by a base support and the other of the housing and shaft is moveable. The apparatus further comprises a jig which is adapted to mate with the furniture to be lifted, and means for raising and lowering the jig to thereby raise and lower the furniture. The apparatus further includes a lateral stabilizer which stabilizes the furniture once it is raised off the floor.

  • Patent number: 5234197
Abstract: A device is provided for lifting objects and holding those objects suspended. The device comprises an arcuate foot, one end of which is adapted to fit under an object to be lifted, and a central shaft secured to the foot at a predetermined angle. The shaft is secured intermediate the ends of the foot. The device also includes a brace adapted to be positioned against a vertical surface of the object to be lifted, and means connected to the shaft and the brace for holding the brace at a distance from the shaft. The angle between the shaft and the foot is adjustable and generally forms an "L" or "T" shape. The brace consists of an elongated trough with a U-shaped cross section having a hole bored through the central portion of the brace. At the hole are secured two arms, an upper and a lower arm. The lower arm is fixed to the portion of the shaft near the attachment to the foot, while the other arm is slidably mounted on the upper portion of the shaft.
