  • Publication number: 20200340963
Abstract: A surface wipe for the detection of harmful substances on surfaces by producing uniform color change and a color comparator to determine the concentration of harmful substance collected on the wipe by comparing the intensity and hue of the uniform color on the wipe to a calibrated color scale related to specific concentration of the target harmful substance. In operation, the wipe is held from the handle to swipe a suspect surface. The pressure applied by fingers at certain areas on the rigid or flexible top support member of the wipe during the swiping process is transferred to the flexible wipe body. The flexible body of the wipe uniformly distribute the pressure applied by fingers throughout its mass and/or take the shape of irregular and uneven surface allowing the collection and color forming assembly to produce uniform color change that can be quantified by the color comparator.

  • Patent number: 9110028
Abstract: A Sorbent media exhaustion indicator produces color change when the sorbent media is saturated. The indicator's fluid inlet attach to the fluid outlet of a sorbent media device such as filter. It includes is a hollow tube or a hollow polyhedron prism that fluids flow freely through it. The indicator also includes colorimetric sensor that changes color when exposed to trace amount of toxic fluids and a trap member that prevent toxic fluids exist in the surrounding environment from changing the color of the colorimetric sensor, hence preventing false indication of sorbent media exhaustion. Another function of the trap member is to trap toxic fluids from exiting to the surrounding environment when toxic fluids breakthrough the sorbent media device.

  • Publication number: 20100104473
Abstract: A chemical detection system includes detectors connected to a pump via a filter and hosing. The filter prevents the interior of the pump from internal contamination from a chemical or toxic agent. The airflow through the detector may be varied by an adjustable orifice. A pistol grip for holding the system and operating it is balanced with respect to a center of gravity.

  • Publication number: 20090155924
Abstract: A surface wipe for real time detection of trace amounts of toxic substances on surfaces. The wipe includes a collection surface that is swiped across a surface to be tested. The collection media filters dirt and other materials to prevent or reduce inaccurage readings caused by dirt or other foreign matter. A reactive media next to the collecting surface is impregnated with chemicals that react to the toxic substances to create a color change in the reactive media. The color change may be viewed through a clear backing.

  • Patent number: 6979361
Abstract: An end of service life indicator (ESLI) device for a fluid filter is included on the filter and visually indicates when the life of the filter has expired. The ESLI indicates the depletion of the filter by changing the color density on a surface of the device to a color density having a well distinguishable contrasting pattern that is easily recognizable even by individuals who are color-blind. The contrasting pattern may express text indicative of the state of the filter.

  • Patent number: 6284198
Abstract: A self-appearing warning sign device and method for the manufacture of a self-appearing warning sign device including a relatively thin gas impermeable support member upon which a coating is superimposed having a composition containing one or more chromographic reagents which will cause a visible color change in the presence of a specified polluting gas. The coating has a raised thickness of between about 5-500 microns. A warning sign of defined shape is formed depositing the coating composition in a given shape identifying the presence of the polluting gas or by masking a given area to form said shape. The device also includes a hydrophobic layer and end covers in an arrangement forming a gas tight sealed enclosure except for an opening in each cover on opposite ends of the device.
