  • Patent number: 9176542
Abstract: A CE device for, e.g., displaying the time can incorporate an accelerometer to provide various features and enhancements. For example, tilting of the housing as sensed by the accelerometer may be used for controlling a volume output by an audio display, and/or for controlling a position of a screen cursor relative to underlying presentation on a visual display, and/or for controlling motion of a virtual object presented on the visual display; and/or for rotating a presentation on the visual display to always be oriented up and/or for determining that a person has tapped the housing based on signals from the accelerometer and in response thereto presenting an image of a rotatable object on the display.

  • Patent number: 8730356
Abstract: A system, method, computer program product, and business method for automatic image glare removal. Glare is often caused by direct reflection of a photographic flash. Images are acquired from at least two different locations, possibly simultaneously, and from one or more cameras, and digitized if necessary. A glare pattern is identified, typically by recognition of a fully overexposed area or known test glare patterns. The images are processed to remove the glare pattern by subtraction of the glare pattern from at least one image and substitution of corresponding data from a related image not identically impacted. The substituted data typically comprises chrominance data, which may be from a luminance-adjusted exposure-bracketed image. The processing may be performed by a camera, a pc, or a networked server, and the processed image is output. The business method includes automated image glare removal via a fee-based per-transaction or subscription service.

  • Patent number: 8456279
Abstract: A CE device for, e.g., displaying the time can incorporate an accelerometer to provide various features and enhancements. For example, using position derived from the accelerometer, the signal strength of a wireless access point (AP) can be mapped in a house.

  • Publication number: 20130070163
Abstract: A remote control (RC) for an audio video display device (AVDD) such as a TV has a special “web” key which, when pressed, causes the RC to command the TV to upload, the currently presented screen shot (or current audio, or current key words in closed captioning (CC)) to a searching device such as an Internet server, the RC processor, or the TV processor. The searching device executes a search based on images recognized in the screen shot Or audio or key words from the CC. If multiple objects are detected a list of the objects may be presented on the TV display or RC display for selection of one by the viewer. The selected object or sole recognized object is then searched using an Internet search engine and the results returned for display.

  • Patent number: 8219146
Abstract: Address book content information and an input command set are synchronized by an audio-only user interface mobile phone with a mobile device pairing server, such that the address book content information and the input command set of the audio-only user interface mobile phone are synchronized with a display-based mobile phone and the audio-only user interface mobile phone is synchronized with the display-based mobile phone via a shared unified single telephone number. The synchronized address book content information and the synchronized input command set are stored. Audio voice input information is detected. A command associated with the stored input command set is identified within the detected audio voice input information, and the identified command is processed. Audio output is generated confirming that processing associated with the identified command is in process. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

  • Publication number: 20100225809
Abstract: An electronic book synchronizes visual segments in a visual file with the start of respective sentences in an audio file corresponding to the visual segments so that if the user switches from visual to audio the audio does not start mid-sentence. Visual segments in the video file may be linked to the start of a page in the audio file.
